A crypto commentator is facing pushback from within the XRP community.
BrutallyHonest (@MotowarriorX), who has built a following by questioning Ripple’s public statements, released a video directed at community members coming after him for criticizing CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
The reason for their anger is a position he has held consistently. He believes that RLUSD has taken utility from XRP in dollar-to-dollar transactions.
This message is to the XRP holders at least I think they’re holders that are coming after me because I question Brad calling house and ripple in regards to RLUSD! pic.twitter.com/vbGwrAlLYh

The Core Argument
BrutallyHonest accuses Garlinghouse and Ripple of lying to the XRP community by publicly describing RLUSD as complementary to XRP. His position is that the data tells a different story. “For a fact that all dollar to dollar cross-border transactions and or transactions within the United States are done using RLUSD, not XRP,” he states.
He argues that because the original plan was to use XRP for these transactions, every dollar-to-dollar payment settled in RLUSD represents utility XRP lost. RLUSD is effectively replacing XRP in this use case, and Ripple promised the opposite.
He raises a specific question that sits at the centre of his criticism: if XRP is sufficient to bridge a peso to a dollar, why did Ripple decide it was not suitable for dollar-to-dollar transfers? He calls it a simple question and says no one has answered it. He notes that crypto influencers who might be expected to push back on him have stayed silent.
Pro-XRP or Pro-Ripple
The most striking element of his message is the distinction he draws between supporting Ripple and supporting XRP. He asks holders to consider which side they are actually on before directing hostility his way.
“Ask yourself, are you pro-Ripple or are you pro-XRP?” he says in the video. He positions his criticism of Ripple as advocacy for XRP holders, not an attack on the asset itself.
Community Reactions
Responses to his posts show the divide he describes is real. One community member opened by agreeing that dollar-to-dollar payments aren’t using XRP, declaring “the dream is over.”
He then turned around and attacked BrutallyHonest, accusing him of lying about things he doesn’t understand and suggesting he has no interest in learning the most basic concept of XRP.
Another commenter suggested the XRP community suffers from Stockholm syndrome, arguing that most holders would defend Garlinghouse against valid criticism and that something about the situation does not add up.
The Larger Question
BrutallyHonest is not claiming XRP has no future. He makes a narrower argument that Ripple replaced XRP with RLUSD for a specific and significant category of payments, and that Garlinghouse’s public statements have not reflected that reality. The comments suggest some in the community agree with this stance.
