Russia’s financial markets are significantly expanding into crypto derivatives. Crypto analyst Diana (@InvestWithD) shared the official confirmation from the Moscow Exchange that it will launch perpetual futures contracts on five cryptocurrency indices starting September 22. XRP is one of only five assets selected for the initial rollout, alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Tron.
The Official Announcement
MOEX described the new instruments as “settlement one-day futures contracts with auto-prolongation.” The exchange confirmed they are cash-settled and “do not involve the supply of the underlying asset.” Russia refers to these as “eternal futures,” its term for what global markets call perpetual futures. They auto-renew daily, allowing investors to hold positions indefinitely without contract expiry.
Access is restricted to qualified investors. MOEX has already attracted over 72,000 qualified investors to its crypto derivatives platform, with trading volume exceeding ₽600 billion.

A Regulated Stage for XRP
XRP securing a spot in a five-asset lineup on Russia’s largest exchange carries real institutional weight. MOEX is not a fringe venue. It is the central hub of Russia’s regulated financial system. When it selects assets for a new product category, that selection reflects institutional confidence in those assets.
The exchange stated the new contracts “offer a convenient mechanism for participation in the price movement of digital currencies” and create “additional diversification opportunities for professional market participants.” XRP now provides Russian institutional investors with a regulated, ruble-settled vehicle to gain exposure to its price.
Part of a Deliberate Build
This launch happened with groundwork. MOEX introduced MOEXXRP, a dedicated XRP index, in May, pulling aggregated pricing from Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Bitget. That index provided the infrastructure needed to support a derivatives product.
Russia also passed its Digital Currency and Digital Rights Law, establishing a legal framework for licensed crypto operations effective September 1. The perpetual futures launch follows directly from that regulatory foundation.
Earlier in 2026, MOEX also expanded its use of XRP-based blockchain payment systems to support cross-border oil trade with China and India, a move tied to Russia’s efforts to build sanctions-resistant settlement infrastructure.

A Regulated On-Ramp for Institutional Capital
The September 22 launch creates a fully regulated, centrally cleared pathway for Russian institutional capital to move into XRP. The product is cash-settled in rubles. This removes custody and cross-border asset transfer complexity entirely.
MOEX already processes hundreds of billions in crypto derivatives volume. Adding XRP perpetual futures to that infrastructure puts the asset in front of an established, active institutional investor base operating inside a regulated framework.
