Listen Closely to What Ripple CEO Said About XRP and CLARITY Act

A fresh tweet from crypto commentator X Finance Bull has brought attention to Brad Garlinghouse’s comments on regulation, Ripple’s four-year legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and the company’s support for the CLARITY Act.

The post maintains that Ripple’s experience with the SEC has strengthened its position that the broader U.S. cryptocurrency industry needs clear regulatory rules.

Garlinghouse Points to Ripple’s 75 Licenses

In a video attached to the post, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse spoke at the third annual Wyoming Blockchain Symposium about the company’s approach to regulation. He rejected the idea that the cryptocurrency industry opposes regulatory oversight.

“The idea that crypto was anti-regulation is the exact opposite,” Garlinghouse said, adding that the industry has actively sought regulation.

He pointed to Ripple’s regulatory progress as an example, stating that the company holds 75 licenses worldwide. His comments emphasized Ripple’s efforts to operate within established regulatory frameworks rather than avoid them.

X Finance Bull focused on this point, establishing that Ripple’s position reflects a broader push for regulatory certainty across the U.S. crypto sector.

Ripple Supports the CLARITY Act

Garlinghouse also addressed Ripple’s experience with the SEC and explained why the company continues to support the CLARITY Act despite XRP already having significant legal clarity.

According to Garlinghouse, Ripple faced a four-year legal battle with the U.S. government and the SEC. He referenced the federal court’s ruling that XRP itself is not a security, describing that decision as “clarity for XRP.”

However, he stressed that Ripple does not view that outcome as sufficient for the wider industry.

“In order for the industry to succeed in the United States, we need clarity for the whole industry,” Garlinghouse said. He added that Ripple has “leaned in aggressively” to support the CLARITY Act.

His comments indicate that Ripple views comprehensive legislation as important beyond its own legal position. The company is seeking rules that establish clearer requirements for businesses operating across the cryptocurrency industry.

Attention Turns to What Comes Next

Garlinghouse also noted that he attended presentations from Tim Scott and Patrick Witt at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium, where they discussed the likelihood and path toward passage of the legislation.

X Finance Bull connected those comments to a broader question about Ripple and XRP if the CLARITY Act becomes law. The commentator said Ripple is not trying to move away from regulation after its SEC experience, but is instead advocating for a framework that could provide greater certainty across the U.S. market.

Comments under the post reflected this view. User maddio0104 described Garlinghouse as “wise” for pursuing regulatory clarity, while 8lends argued that clear rules could support greater adoption because businesses cannot effectively scale while facing regulatory uncertainty.

For X Finance Bull, the central issue is now whether the regulatory clarity Ripple has sought for years can expand beyond XRP to the wider U.S. cryptocurrency industry through legislation such as the CLARITY Act.
