Brad Garlinghouse walked out of the White House on August 19 with a message. “Crypto isn’t a fringe industry,” he wrote. “Washington DC knows the crypto voter is alive and well.” 67 million Americans now hold crypto. That is nearly 1 in 4 citizens.
His post captured the mood of a summit that brought together the President, the SEC Chair, the CFTC Chair, and the leaders of America’s biggest crypto and financial institutions. Garlinghouse was among them, representing Ripple and XRP at the highest level of U.S. policy discussion.
The President’s Support for Crypto
Garlinghouse did not hold back in crediting Trump’s role in reaching this moment. “This President’s incredible commitment to innovation and leadership around digital assets in the U.S. has been profound,” he wrote. He expressed confidence, writing, “The future is bright.”
The sentiment reflected something tangible. This was not a courtesy visit. Ripple now sits on the CFTC’s newly formed Innovation Advisory Committee alongside Coinbase, Chainlink, Gemini, and others. The industry is embedded in the regulatory process itself.
Great to be back at the White House today alongside @realDonaldTrump, @SECPaulSAtkins, @ChairmanSelig and leaders across the crypto industry.

Inside the Summit
The meeting took place at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. President Trump called on Congress to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, describing it as legislation that will “keep us ahead of China, keep us ahead of everyone else.” Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong echoed that urgency, calling the bill “a true bipartisan compromise.”
SEC Chair Paul Atkins announced a new crypto fundraising proposal, including a $75 million annual exemption for digital asset raises. The Treasury published its stablecoin framework the day prior. The administration moved on multiple fronts simultaneously.
One community member noted that exactly 589 days passed between Garlinghouse’s private January 2025 dinner with Trump and his return to the White House on August 19. In the XRP community, 589 is a long-standing symbolic XRP price target. The timing registered with many who follow the asset closely.

The Road Ahead
The CLARITY Act faces a Senate procedural vote on September 15. It needs 60 votes to advance. Congress returns from recess on September 14, leaving almost no margin for delay. Garlinghouse’s presence and the language he used afterward signal that this moment is a foundation. The regulatory architecture is also taking shape.
The administration is not waiting. The SEC and CFTC are both advancing crypto policy through agency action. The CFTC’s Innovation Advisory Committee holds its first public meeting today covering crypto regulation, prediction markets, and artificial intelligence.
