The XRP Ledger is seeing a new form of blockchain activity as artificial intelligence agents begin using the network to make payments. Crypto commentator Zach Rector highlighted this development in a tweet, noting more than 2 million agentic transactions on the XRP Ledger despite XRP’s current price decline.
More Than 2 Million Agentic Transactions
Rector said the number of transactions demonstrates that adoption of the XRP Ledger continues even while XRP trades lower. According to his video, more than 2 million transactions have already been processed by AI agents using XRP and stablecoin payments to pay for services directly on-chain.
He presented this activity as an emerging use case for the XRP Ledger, where autonomous software can interact with blockchain infrastructure without requiring a human to initiate every transaction.
“XRP price is down, but adoption is up,” Rector said while introducing the data.

The development places AI agents alongside traditional users of blockchain networks. Instead of relying exclusively on human-to-human payments, AI systems can use digital assets to purchase services, settle transactions, and interact with other applications.
XRP Ledger’s Speed Could Support AI Payments
Rector also focused on the technical characteristics of the XRP Ledger. He said AI agents require blockchain networks that can process transactions quickly and efficiently, particularly when autonomous systems need to make frequent payments.
He pointed to transaction settlement within approximately three to five seconds and the network’s low transaction costs as factors that could support this emerging activity. In his view, these characteristics allow the XRP Ledger to serve payment requirements for AI agents that need reliable on-chain settlement.
Rector also described XRP as a potential bridge currency for transactions involving both people and AI agents. His comments suggest that the potential use of XRP could extend beyond conventional payments if autonomous systems increasingly rely on blockchain networks to exchange value.

Adoption Continues Despite Lower XRP Price
Rector emphasized that the current market environment has not prevented activity from developing on the XRP Ledger. He said the decline in XRP’s price has occurred alongside continued progress in adoption, particularly through AI-related transactions.
The comments reflect his view that network activity and token price can move differently over shorter periods. While XRP may be trading below previous levels, Rector believes the continued use of the XRP Ledger provides an important measure of development within the ecosystem.
The response to his post also highlighted the novelty of AI-driven payments. GreekHeat369 said activity could accelerate as more transactions are processed by AI agents using XRP, while Jack J said he had not expected agentic payments to become part of the XRP use case years ago.
