Peter Brandt Taunts Wall Street Veteran: No One Cares about XRP

Peter Brandt, a veteran trader with decades of experience, has publicly reaffirmed his negative stance on XRP. His remarks came in response to a challenge from a self-acclaimed Wall Street veteran. Brandt was unequivocal in his response, stating, “Are you kidding me? Who the heck even cares about XRP?”

He added that he conducts his trading activity through futures and expressed no desire to hold XRP in any quantity. If he were to receive 500,000 XRP, he said he would convert the entire position into Bitcoin without hesitation.

XRP Falls Below the $1 Mark

XRP is currently trading at approximately $0.9992, placing it below the psychologically significant threshold of $1. The asset stayed above $1 for over 600 days. This marks the first time since November 2024 that the token has fallen to this level.

The decline also means XRP is now valued below RLUSD, Ripple’s own stablecoin that launched in late 2024 and is designed to maintain a stable price. XRP is approximately 72.6% below its all-time high of $3.65, which was recorded on July 17, 2025, according to CoinGecko data.

A Long History of Criticism

Brandt’s dismissal of XRP is not a new development. His criticism of the token and its community spans several years. In June 2020, he publicly described XRP as a manipulated scam, and the following month he drew a comparison between Ripple’s control over XRP and the Federal Reserve’s control over the U.S. dollar, arguing that Ripple functioned as a “bag holder” for the token.

In October 2025, he described XRP holders as the most immature and unprofessional group on X and stated his belief that they deserved to lose their money. In December 2025, he called XRP and silver holders uneducated and biased.

A Brief Period of Optimism

Despite his consistent criticism, Brandt briefly adopted a more favorable view of XRP in late 2024, during a period when the token was experiencing a significant price rally. In November 2024, he acknowledged that XRP had broken above its 2023 high and pointed to a formation he described as a massive coil.

However, this outlook did not persist. By March 2025, Brandt had reversed his position and warned that a bearish head-and-shoulders pattern could push XRP toward $1.07. With the token now trading at or below that level, his technical analysis appears to have been accurate.
