History Repeating Itself? What Happened Every Time XRP Had Q1 and Q2 Losses

XRP has a documented history of repeating price behavior across market cycles. Crypto commentator Austin Hilton highlighted that pattern in a recent post, pointing to quarterly performance data stretching back to 2013. The data tells a consistent story. When Q1 and Q2 both close in the red, Q3 has delivered significant gains every time.

The Setup In 2026

XRP entered 2026 with consecutive quarterly losses. The asset showed momentum in the first few days of January but quickly lost it. Q1 closed at -27.1%. Q2 followed at -22.4%. That back-to-back decline is not unprecedented. According to Hilton, the same two-quarter loss pattern appeared in three prior years: 2014, 2018, and 2022. In each case, Q3 produced a notable recovery.

In 2014, Q1 came in at -67.9% and Q2 at -57%. Q3 then closed at +22.9%. In 2018, Q1 fell -77.7%, and Q2 dropped -9.10%. Q3 bounced +24.4%. In 2022, Q1 was -2.14%, and Q2 was -59.4%. Q3 recovered to +44.5%.

Hilton stated that “Every time that XRP has had a Q1 and a Q2 loss, Q3 has had a significant move up!” He calculated that the average Q3 gain across those three setups exceeded 30%.

Midterm Year Behavior

A second historical pattern reinforces the case. XRP has declined in June during every midterm year on record. June 2026 was no exception. That pattern alone does not predict direction. But combined with Hilton’s Q1/Q2 observation, two independent cycles now reinforce the point that XRP is repeating historical patterns.

What the Numbers Mean

XRP currently trades at approximately $1.02. A 30% gain from that level puts the price near $1.33. XRP lost the $1.30 support when it fell in early June and has failed to reclaim it since. That figure reflects the average Q3 return from the three historically comparable setups Hilton identified, and would be a notable recovery.

The broader quarterly data supports Q3 as a historically strong period for XRP. Q3 2021 closed at +35.7%. Q3 2020 delivered +37.4%. Q3 2025 came in at +27.1%. The asset has shown a consistent ability to recover sharply after periods of sustained selling pressure, and it has spent months in an extended losing streak.

A Pattern With a Track Record

The Q1 and Q2 2026 losses fit a recognizable structure. Whether Q3 follows the historical script depends on how market conditions develop over the coming weeks. But Hilton’s data shows the pattern has held every time the conditions matched. This year, they match again.
