Dark Defender States Why CLARITY Act Is a Big Deal for XRP

Prominent crypto analyst Dark Defender (@DefendDark) has shared a message that cut through the noise surrounding the CLARITY Act.

He stated that the “Clarity Act will write XRP’s commodity status into LAW, a permanence that no future SEC chair could undo.” He closed by expressing direct trust in the U.S. Senate to pass it “shortly.”

Dark Defender is not speculating about conditions or timelines. He is asserting that passage will happen and that when it does, XRP’s legal standing becomes untouchable by future regulators.

The Significance of His Position

Dark Defender’s trust in the Senate is explicit and unqualified at a moment when the vote has yet to be scheduled, and the August recess begins in days. That conviction stands in sharp contrast to the uncertainty surrounding the bill’s procedural path.

Where the Bill Stands Today

The CLARITY Act needs 60 votes to pass. It currently holds 51 confirmed votes, with 7 to 10 Democrats signaling support. 9 of those Democratic votes would push it over the threshold.

One dispute continues to block a floor vote. Democrats want state attorneys general to have authority to sue the DOJ over ethics enforcement. Republicans and the White House oppose this. Senators Tom Tillis and Ruben Gallego are leading negotiations to reach a compromise.

Former Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett reported that a breakthrough could arrive soon, but President Trump must approve any agreement before the bill advances. August 7 is the final scheduled Senate workday before recess. A cloture motion filed today puts the earliest possible procedural vote on Friday. Any faster movement requires unanimous consent.

XRP Army Speaks Up

Responses to Dark Defender’s post split sharply. Some community members entertained the possibility of a Friday or Saturday vote and speculated about XRP’s price before the bill becomes law. Senator Cynthia Lummis has suggested that the Senate will remain in session over the weekend so the vote can happen.

Others expressed deep skepticism, with several users doubting the Senate would act before recess. Some described general distrust in the Senate as an institution. One commenter suggested the delay was deliberate, arguing the U.S. was allowing others to position ahead of passage.

Will XRP’s Commodity Status Become Law?

In March, the SEC and CFTC classified multiple assets including XRP as commodities. If Dark Defender is right, the CLARITY Act will pass, and this status will become Federal law, eliminating the threat of anti-crypto regulation from the SEC. Senator Lummis has warned that a failed vote delays crypto regulation until 2030, and the Senate needs to act fast.
