XRP Wins New Integration to Become Go-To Payment Option for Gamers

Cryptocurrency payment provider BitPay has made an exciting announcement for gamers – XRP can now be used to buy and play games through Xsolla.

Xsolla is a prominent player in the video gaming industry, and it has partnered with BitPay to integrate XRP as a payment option for its games, including popular titles like SMITE and Roblox games.

BitPay announced this exciting partnership in a post on X, stating, “Xsolla now accepts XRP with BitPay as payment method for their games, such as Smitegame and Roblox.”

The BitPay and Xsolla Partnership

Xsolla was founded in 2005 as a global gaming startup offering tools and services for the gaming sector. They have revolutionized game development, marketing, and monetization across multiple platforms.

The company’s primary focus is to help game developers expand their reach, increase revenue, and form partnerships with leading players in the industry. Their mission revolves around solving the distribution challenges plaguing the global gaming market.

BitPay and Xsolla have been partners since 2014 when they joined forces to process Bitcoin (BTC) payments for gamers worldwide. Their partnership has allowed Xsolla to accept various cryptocurrencies supported by BitPay for payments.

BitPay recently enabled Xsolla to accept PayPal USD (PYUSD), offering users another payment option and making Xsolla one of the first online merchants to support PayPal’s stablecoin. XRP has now joined the list of cryptocurrencies Xsolla supports.

BitPay’s Support for XRP

BitPay first added support for XRP in 2019, thanks to its partnership with Ripple’s investment arm, RippleX (formerly Xpring). However, like many U.S.-based crypto companies, BitPay ceased processing XRP-related payments when the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued Ripple over an alleged violation of federal securities law.

However, after Ripple’s victory in July, where XRP was declared as a non-security asset, BitPay relisted XRP on its platform.

Growing Adoption of XRP Payments

Integrating XRP into Xsolla’s gaming ecosystem is a significant development in XRP’s journey to mass adoption. It opens up new opportunities for gamers to enjoy their favorite titles using digital assets.

This partnership also shows the growing acceptance of cryptocurrencies within the gaming industry, paving the way for more innovative payment solutions in the future.

This partnership comes not long after Ferrari added support for XRP. Canadian-based crypto-payment platform FCF pay now also supports electricity bill payments with XRP. The growing adoption of XRP in the global market could bring favorable price movements for the popular cryptocurrency soon.
