XRP Will Never Go Mainstream, But Ripple CTO Got on Stage to Show Real Target

Critics claimed XRP could never break into the mainstream. But a speech from Ripple CTO David Schwartz flipped that narrative. He revealed the real goal isn’t speculative trading—it’s to connect with the $130 trillion global credit market.

As highlighted by X Finance Bull, Ripple is not just chasing retail adoption. Its ambition is structural. By positioning XRP to tap into the debt and credit markets, Ripple aims to become the settlement layer for massive traditional finance flows.

Institutional Infrastructure: Building the Rails

Ripple is building the foundational infrastructure that institutions require. Its $1.25 billion acquisition of prime broker Hidden Road strengthens its post-trade, clearing, and settlement capabilities. Hidden Road plans to migrate its operations onto the XRP Ledger, pushing settlement onto the blockchain.

This gives Ripple direct access to the world of custody, financing, and securities lending.

Regulatory Momentum

Canary Capital’s XRPC spot XRP ETF is officially trading. Nasdaq certified its listing on November 12, 2025, making it the first U.S.-listed single-token XRP ETF. The ETF launched on November 13 and had an impressive start, with its first 30 minutes of trading being astonishing and its overall first-day volume breaking records.

A few days later, Franklin Templeton followed with its own XRP ETF. Their fund, under ticker EZRP, launched on November 18, 2025. This move comes after Franklin Templeton updated its S‑1 filing, removing the delaying “8(a)” clause—an adjustment that cleared the way for auto‑activation.

Franklin’s ETF also appears on the DTCC’s active funds list, under the name “Franklin XRP Trust (XRPZ),” signaling that it’s fully set up for institutional clearing and settlement.

These launches collectively represent a significant regulatory milestone for XRP. With major issuers now offering spot ETFs, the digital asset has crossed a critical threshold toward mainstream, regulated access.

Scaling Cross-Border Finance

By linking custody, broker operations, and tokenization, Ripple is laying the rails for seamless, institution-grade settlement. XRP could finally serve as the bridge between traditional credit instruments and blockchain-native finance. This goes well beyond weekend pump strategies—it’s deep integration.

Why the Timing Matters

This strategy unfolds at a moment of regulatory clarity. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has introduced new rules that simplify the listing of spot crypto ETFs, including XRP. That regulatory tailwind could accelerate adoption and push XRP deeper into the infrastructure of institutional finance.

In conclusion, Skeptics may argue that XRP lacks retail buzz. But Ripple’s long game is not about viral demand—it’s about structural relevance. As Schwartz hinted on stage, this is not speculation. It’s infrastructure. And if all the pieces fall into place, the critics will realize they underestimated XRP by a wide margin.
