XRP Just Took the Number 1 Spot On This Top Exchange

On Upbit, South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, XRP claimed the top spot by trading volume, recording $72.3 million against Bitcoin’s $66.4 million in the XRP/KRW and BTC/KRW pairs, respectively.

Crypto pundit X Finance Bull (@Xfinancebull) highlighted the development, noting that “Korea knows something.”

A Growing Pattern in Korea

This is not an isolated event. XRP has previously outpaced both Bitcoin and Ethereum on Upbit, with earlier data showing over $200 million in 24-hour volume and $68.89 billion in yearly trading volume on the exchange.

The pattern reflects sustained retail interest in XRP within one of the world’s most active crypto markets. South Korea accounts for roughly 30% of global spot volume and has 16 million crypto users.

Seoul Conference Adds Institutional Weight

The volume surge comes from XRP Seoul 2026, where Ripple President Monica Long made two major predictions for the XRP Ledger by 2027. She projected $30 billion in tokenized real-world assets on the ledger, up from roughly $6 billion today.

She also predicted over 100 million AI agent transactions, a 10x increase from current levels. The event drew over 5,000 attendees and featured Korean banking institutions on stage alongside Ripple.

How the Community Reacted

The volume data generated active discussion online. One observer stated that Korea is “wide awake.” X Finance Bull agreed, stating that the $72 million volume is hard to miss. Another commenter drew comparisons to the 2017/18 cycle, suggesting the current activity has familiar characteristics.

One user noted that Asian volume historically precedes price breakouts, and another pushed back on the bullish sentiment, saying the asset’s price hadn’t moved in response.

Ripple’s 2026 Korea Footprint

Ripple has built a significant institutional presence in Korea throughout 2026. In April, it partnered with Kyobo Life Insurance to pilot tokenized Korean government bond settlement through Ripple Custody. That same month, K Bank became the first internet-only bank in Korea to deploy Ripple Custody’s wallet infrastructure, with remittance testing covering UAE and Thailand corridors.

In August, Jeonbuk Bank became the first regional bank in Korea to deploy Ripple Payments for cross-border transfers, with personal remittances to Vietnam planned by mid-December. XRP has become a dominant force in Korea, and many experts believe its influence will expand as global adoption grows.
