A number just quietly passed a threshold that could matter more than most price charts this year. The XRP Ledger Foundation confirmed the network has processed 1 million agentic payments through the x402 protocol.
The Foundation paired the milestone with the launch of XRPL AI Hub, a new ecosystem platform built for developers, users, and enthusiasts working in the space.
x402 is a payment standard that lets AI agents transact autonomously. Instead of a human initiating transactions, an agent can pay for API calls, data, or services on its own, machine-to-machine, with no manual approval needed. It’s a core piece of infrastructure for what’s being called the agentic economy, where software agents handle commerce directly.
XRPL Was Built for This
Vet (@Vet_X0), a validator on the XRPL, responded to the milestone with a technical breakdown of why XRPL fits this use case. He said he wasn’t surprised the network hit 1 million transactions this fast. He pointed to the protocol’s design, with its low-cost infrastructure, predictable fees, and XRP as the native asset that’s listed everywhere and stays liquid.
He also highlighted XRPL’s native decentralized exchange (DEX), which lets users swap assets 24/7 without censorship. For AI agents making constant, small, autonomous payments, that combination of cost and access matters. An agent running thousands of micro-transactions can’t absorb unpredictable fees or wait on a centralized order book.

Excitement Among Supporters
Replies to Vet’s post ranged from technical curiosity to speculation about XRP’s future. One user asked what the API calls were actually paying for.
Vet answered that most of the volume came from calls to Heurist AI. Another called Vet’s optimism an understatement, noting that the AI push on the XRPL is positioned perfectly. He expects the setup to strengthen once XRP gains deeper liquidity.
