Visa Set To Enable Wirex Issue Crypto-powered Cards in Over 40 Nations

Visa, a leading financial services provider, has scored a partnership with Wirex, a worldwide digital payments company headquartered in London for the long-term purpose of issuing crypto-enabled cards in several countries of the world.

This strategic and global partnership, sealed on Monday, makes the London-based company a member of Visa in Asia-Pacific (APAC) and the United Kingdom. As a bonafide member of Visa, Wirex is now well-positioned to pilot new blockchain drives and offer novel ingenious products to enhance the daily utilization of crypto by users.

It’s worth noting that Wirex has the majority of its customers based in the United Kingdom while its customer base is recording rapid growth in the Asia-Pacific region. “The agreement between Wirex and Visa will support further collaboration in major markets, including APAC, UK, Europe, and the USA,” part of the press release read.

Particularly, Visa will enable the cryptocurrency payment services provider, Wirex, to directly hand out crypto-powered debit and prepaid cards to its over 5 million customers in over 40 countries. Wirex believes that this partnership with Visa will fuel them to empower everyone to access the benefits of crypto.

“It’s great to strengthen our partnership with Visa, who have played an important role in allowing us to bridge the gap between the traditional and digital economies. Visa’s proven commitment to safety, security, and innovation will help us to continue developing a next-generation app and card,” Svyatoslav Garal, Regional Managing Director of Wirex APAC remarked.

However, the two companies are not working together for the first time. Per the update, Wirex became the first company in the world to develop a crypto-enabled card and this was in 2015. Since then, at over 80 million locations where Visa is accepted, users could buy, sell and spend multiple crypto assets using the card.
