This Expert Says BRICS Nations Will Use XRP. Here’s the Proof

Standard Chartered Bank occupies a critical position in the emerging BRICS payment architecture. Crypto researcher SMQKE and independent journalist Maximus brought this to light through a detailed analysis. The bank describes itself as a “super connector delivering institutional grade network agnostic digital solutions” to its clients.

That network includes public blockchains like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, as well as CBDC networks tied to Project mBridge, now rebranded as BRICS Bridge. BRICS Bridge connects national banking systems across borders.

A leaked Hyperledger Foundation document shows these systems integrate with global RTGS infrastructure, along with local payment rails including SEPA, ACH, FPS, and others spanning the UK, China, America, Europe, and Japan. Standard Chartered plugs directly into this structure.

XRP Appears in the Architecture

Ripple and XRP show up explicitly inside Standard Chartered’s digital ecosystem documentation. In materials circulated by SMQKE and analyzed by Maximus, a diagram places Ripple alongside stablecoin issuers connected to Standard Chartered’s network.

Michael Spiegel, Global Head of Transaction Banking at Standard Chartered, addressed this directly. He stated, “We see a very large number of payment service providers native on ISO 20022 and also quite a lot of coin providers and Ripple’s XRP.” He added that the ISO 20022 standard can bridge between traditional and decentralized finance.

ISO 20022 is the global financial messaging standard now adopted by major payment systems worldwide. Ripple is aligned with that standard, and this compatibility places XRP inside the plumbing of institutional cross-border finance, not outside looking in.

BRICS Pay Extends Beyond BRICS Members

One detail in the analysis carries particular weight. BRICS Pay, the payment layer built on top of this infrastructure, is not restricted to BRICS member nations. Standard Chartered has already integrated BRICS Pay into its digital payments platform. Its customers can now make payments to BRICS countries through that integration.

That expansion changes the scope of what BRICS Bridge represents. It is no longer a closed system for member states. It is becoming a cross-border payment corridor that connects BRICS nations with institutions in the UK and potentially beyond.

Why This Matters for XRP

XRP’s position in this system is structural. Standard Chartered is not a peripheral player. It is embedded in the BRICS payment layer, connected to CBDC networks, and on record stating that XRP is native to ISO 20022 messaging. Spiegel’s quote confirms the bank sees XRP as a viable bridge between legacy finance and decentralized infrastructure.

The significance for XRP is institutional validation at a level that few assets have received. The asset is not being considered for integration. According to Standard Chartered’s own materials, it is already there.
