Data analyst and financial chartist Celal Kucuker (@CelalKucuker) recently shared a long-term XRP chart outlining a large cup and handle formation, along with a projected move beyond $12.

In his post, Kucuker stated, “A 1.61 Fib revisit will come. $XRP will trade above $12.” His chart maps XRP’s structure from 2023 into 2027 and highlights several technical levels that could shape the next stage of price action.

Can XRP Break Out of Descending Resistance?

The chart shows XRP recovering after a lengthy corrective phase that followed the rally toward $3.65 in July 2025. During the correction, XRP formed a descending resistance trendline while establishing a rounded bottom structure. That rounded formation now appears to resemble the right side of a cup pattern.

XRP is about to push through the descending trendline near $1.45. The asset recently rebounded from the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement level around $1.10. According to the chart, that region served as the handle low before momentum shifted upward again.

XRP Eyes Return to $3.65

Kucuker’s chart places a strong focus on the 1.0 Fibonacci extension near $3.65. XRP previously reached that level before entering consolidation. The current setup suggests the analyst expects another test of that area once bullish continuation confirms.

The blue projection on the chart measures a potential 225.15% move from the handle low toward the previous peak near $3.65. XRP now trades around $1.45, meaning the asset still has significant room before revisiting that resistance zone.

Fibonacci Levels Show Key XRP Targets

Beyond $3.65, the chart outlines several Fibonacci extension levels that may act as future resistance targets. The 1.272 extension sits near $6.18, while the 1.414 extension appears near $8.15. The most important level in Kucuker’s analysis remains the 1.618 Fibonacci extension near $12.10.

That level appears prominently marked on the chart. Kucuker also circled the 1.618 extension area, reinforcing its importance in the overall setup. The green projection path on the chart suggests XRP could rally sharply after reclaiming the previous high, then continue climbing toward the $12 region during the next expansion phase.

A breakout above the descending trendline will place attention on whether XRP can maintain strength above the $1.40 to $1.45 zone. Doing this will help it build momentum toward the previous high near $3.65 and the $12 target.

The Senate released the full 309-page text publicly two days before the markup vote. Wednesday’s committee decision determines whether the bill advances to the Senate floor.

Public chain challengers, including Ethereum, Tron, and Base, also appear in the table. XRPL sits in the corporate/permissioned chain column alongside platforms like Kinexys, Fnality, Canton, and Provenance.

The Numbers Behind the Opportunity

VanEck assigns specific revenue projections to each use case by 2030. Cross-border payments represent $20 billion of annual revenue with $7.5 trillion daily in FX volumes, and a 5-10bps take rate. Collateral and settlement projects $10 billion of annual revenue against $2.3 Quadrillion settled with a 10-30bps take rate.

Securitization carries a $15 billion annual revenue estimate tied to $3-$4 trillion securitized at a 50-300bps take rate. These three categories total more than $45 billion in projected annual revenue at the conservative end, with the full opportunity exceeding $60 billion.

The Potential Impact on XRP

VanEck’s report identifies a structural shift currently playing out in crypto markets. Since early 2025, ETH has fallen 40%, and SOL 57%. Meanwhile, VanEck’s crypto equity index, MVDAPPP, declined only 4%. The firm attributes this divergence to corporations capturing settlement economics that previously flowed to public-chain tokens.

VanEck states that value is migrating from protocol tokens to the equities and infrastructure providers building corporate blockchains. XRPL’s inclusion as a named infrastructure layer across all three use cases places it inside that infrastructure category.

What Comes Next?

XRP Stands to Gain Commodity Status by Law

The CLARITY Act, with its Senate markup scheduled for May 14, 2026, does something courts alone cannot do with permanence. It classifies XRP as a commodity through legislation.

Van Code made this distinction explicit. XRP “will be deemed a commodity by law, not just a court decision.” That shift matters to institutions. A court ruling can be appealed and reversed, but a statutory classification does not carry the same vulnerability.

Commodity status changes how banks, asset managers, and custodians can interact with XRP. It removes regulatory ambiguity that has kept institutional capital on the sidelines. The passage of the CLARITY Act gives financial institutions a legal safe harbor to operate with XRP at scale.

The Structural Case for Institutional Adoption

Van Code’s broader analysis points to a specific mechanism. Ripple holds billions of XRP in escrow. In a post-CLARITY legal environment, the escrow converts from a source of sell pressure into deployable liquidity. Ripple would seed Protocol-Native Liquidity Pools on the XRP Ledger, targeting pairs like RLUSD/XRP, EURCV/XRP, and JPY/XRP.

The liquidity pools on the XRP Ledger use a pricing formula that automatically adjusts as trades occur. Larger trades require deeper pools to execute without significantly moving the price. Moving $100 million in a single transaction with less than 0.1% slippage requires approximately $20 billion in pool depth.

At XRP’s current price near $1.47, funding that pool demands roughly 18 billion XRP. The total circulating supply cannot support that figure. At $10, the same pool requires only 2.7 billion XRP. The price rises because the pool structure mathematically demands it. This explains why XRP cannot remain at a low price.

Institutional Infrastructure Already in Place

The infrastructure supporting this thesis is not theoretical. Mastercard and Societe Generale, through the EURCV stablecoin, are already active on-chain.

SBI and Kiraboshi are in production testing for Asian remittance corridors. Ondo Finance, in coordination with JPMorgan, operates OUSG with $12.8 billion in TVL. These institutions are not waiting for technology. They are waiting for legal clarity.

The CLARITY Act provides exactly that. Van Code’s confidence reflects what the on-chain data already shows. The participants are positioned. The legal framework is the final variable.

He stated that Ripple has already formed partnerships with infrastructure providers, including Volante Technologies, ACI Worldwide, and Finastra. In his view, these relationships are significant because the companies already provide services to thousands of financial institutions worldwide.

CharuSan XRP explained that a single software update via these providers could theoretically make XRP liquidity accessible to large banking networks at once. He argued that Ripple would not need to negotiate separate agreements with every bank because the infrastructure layer already connects them through centralized cloud systems.

The Debate Over XRP’s Long-Term Valuation
