The XRP Ledger’s DEX is doing something most people haven’t noticed yet. Vet (@Vet_X0), a validator on the XRP Ledger, shared a visualization capturing it.

Every IOU-to-IOU trade offer on the ledger settles automatically through XRP when doing so improves the trade outcome. This is not a third-party application, but a native protocol function called auto-bridging, and it is already routing thousands of trades.

Vet’s recent 72-hour snapshot of the XRPL DEX captured over 4,200 trades routing through XRP, with over 6,700 XRP routed in total. XAH dominated the sell side with 4,265 XRP trades and 4,232 XRP sold. RLUSD led the receive side with 4,247 trades and 5,153 XRP received. The volume picture is clear. The ledger is processing real cross-asset activity through its native bridge asset at scale.

What Auto-Bridging Does

Auto-bridging allows the XRPL DEX to route trades through XRP automatically when it produces a better rate for the trader. The user does not need to initiate this. The protocol handles it. This matters because the XRPL DEX operates as a single unified venue.

Liquidity is not split across separate smart contracts or isolated pools. All activity aggregates in one place, which means auto-bridging can access the full depth of available liquidity every time it executes.

Vet noted that auto-bridging serves the long tail of assets particularly well. Because the DEX is native to the protocol, it captures activity at a level that fragmented smart contract DEXes cannot match. Vet stated that traders “simply operate always on the same DEX and that aggregates liquidity and trades.”

The XAH Volume and What’s Driving It

One community member asked why XAH volume was so high in the visualization. Vet responded that he believes “it’s a market maker actively operating on that book.” He also noted that issued XAH on the XRPL has genuine demand, with users moving between Xahau and the XRP Ledger using the teleport feature.

That cross-chain movement is generating real DEX activity and flowing through the auto-bridging mechanism. Vincent Van Code, a software engineer and crypto expert, asked about AMM and liquidity provider routing. Vet estimated that approximately 31% of auto-bridged volume routes through AMM/LP, though he noted he did not have the data immediately available.

Getting Ready For More Activity

Current auto-bridging activity represents just 0.16% of total DEX trades over the 72 hours. Vet acknowledged the figure is small but sees it as a starting point. His position is that when this number reaches double digits, the protocol’s optimized trade routing becomes a significant feature at scale. The infrastructure for that outcome already exists and is functioning today.

On-Chain Credit Could Expand XRPL Utility

ALLINCRYPTO asked Vet which developments involving the XRP Ledger and XRP currently appeared most promising. The response focused on lending and borrowing, particularly the possibility of introducing under-collateralized loans supported by off-chain underwriting.

ALLINCRYPTO described this approach as a different way of implementing on-chain credit, with a process that could resemble traditional finance while still using blockchain infrastructure. Under-collateralized lending could allow borrowers to access credit without providing assets that fully cover the value of their loans.

Vet identified lending and borrowing as a major potential development for the XRP Ledger. He also pointed to privacy as another important technical improvement that could soon become available.

Solana and the XRP Ledger are often viewed as separate blockchain ecosystems, but a new development reported by Crypto Blockchain Researcher BankXRP on X points to growing connectivity between the two networks.

BankXRP announced that Solana is now live on the XRP Ledger’s decentralized exchange, with SOL made available through Axelar’s cross-chain infrastructure.

In the post, BankXRP stated that “SOL, wrapped and issued via Axelar’s cross-chain infrastructure, is now natively tradable on XRPL.” The researcher described the development as providing “Cross-chain liquidity, native settlement,” highlighting the ability to bring an asset from the Solana ecosystem into the XRPL trading environment.

The development gives XRP Ledger users access to SOL without requiring the asset to remain confined to Solana-based markets. It also creates another connection between two major blockchain ecosystems with different infrastructure and user bases.

How Axelar Enables the Connection

The integration relies on Axelar’s cross-chain infrastructure to facilitate the movement and representation of SOL on the XRP Ledger. In simple terms, a wrapped asset represents an asset from one blockchain on another network. In this case, SOL originating from Solana can be represented on the XRPL so that it can participate in trading on the ledger’s decentralized exchange.

The decision by Gen3 to step back from retail-focused development on the XRP Ledger has prompted a strong response from Anodos Finance co-founder Panos Mekras on X.

After about five years of building products on the XRP Ledger, Gen3 co-founder Shen says the company can no longer justify continuing to invest its time, money, and energy into retail-focused platforms on the network.

In a lengthy post on X, Shen described the decision as one of the most difficult choices Gen3 has made. He said the team has built on the XRPL since before the XLS-20 amendment and has spent years developing products aimed at expanding the ecosystem.

Shen highlighted several projects Gen3 helped develop during that period. These included Zerpmon, which he described as one of the first gaming NFT collections in the XRP ecosystem, as well as Aigent, which introduced autonomous agents capable of using XRPL primitives. Gen3 also developed Axiom Protocol, which Shen called XRP’s first prediction market.

The company also worked with Futureverse on TRN, building core marketplace and decentralized exchange infrastructure for the XRPL Sidechain.

A Difficult Decision After Five Years

Shen said Gen3 experienced significant changes across the XRP ecosystem during its time building on the ledger. Despite that experience, he said the team no longer sees a sustainable path for operating a retail-focused platform on the XRPL.

He also reflected on the personal commitment involved. Shen said he dedicated much of his life to building on the XRPL over the past five years and made sacrifices in other areas of his life to pursue that work.

He praised the Gen3 team for its commitment, saying he could not have asked for a better or more talented group to work with. He also thanked organizations including XRPL Commons, RippleX, Tenity, DIFC, Futureverse and Victus Global for their support.

Gen3 Will Continue Supporting the XRPL

The decision does not mean Gen3 is leaving the XRP Ledger. Shen said the company will remain involved in the ecosystem from a different angle.

Gen3 will continue operating and maintaining its dUNL validator node. The team will also review, test, discuss, and vote on upcoming amendments. Shen said years of development work have given the team a deep technical understanding of the ledger, which remains important to its continued involvement.

However, Shen said he personally plans to take a break from building and social media to focus on parts of his life that suffered from years of continuous effort.

Funding Concerns and a Shift Toward Institutions

Shen also addressed the funding environment for XRPL startups. He said there is a severe lack of funding opportunities for startups that do not already generate revenue from other blockchains or maintain strong relationships with organizations that control significant resources.

He said he hopes those with resources to support innovative XRPL projects will put more of them into the ecosystem. At the same time, he acknowledged that no one owes anyone support and that builders must decide where they can continue working sustainably.

For Gen3, that path no longer involves retail-focused XRPL platforms. Shen concluded by saying that, personally, his eyes are now on institutions, while Gen3 remains committed to supporting the technical development of the XRP Ledger.

Crypto researcher SMQKE recently confirmed two developments tied to Ripple and the XRP Ledger. His post on X read, “Yes, the XRPL can tokenize gold and Ripple is authorized to operate in the UK as an FCA-authorized fintech company.” SMQKE added that documentation backed both claims.

Ripple’s UK regulatory status stems from a press release confirming new permissions from the Financial Conduct Authority.

Earlier in the year, the company received an Electronic Money Institution licence and a Cryptoasset Registration. These approvals let Ripple scale its payments operations across the UK. The release stated the licences “enable Ripple to expand its payments offerings, reinforcing commitment to global regulatory compliance.”

Gold Tokenization on the XRP Ledger

The second claim in SMQKE’s post concerns the XRPL’s capacity to tokenize physical assets. The ledger supports issuing custom tokens, a feature already used for gold and silver. In 2024, Meld Gold integrated with the XRPL to issue tokenized gold and silver. Each token represents 1 gram of metal held with vault providers.

The XRPL runs a decentralized exchange with auto-bridging liquidity. This function allows gold tokens to trade against XRP or other assets natively on the ledger. The XRPL also includes compliance tools. Issuers can freeze assets or require authorization for token holders, mirroring features found on other asset-tokenization networks like Stellar.

The XRPL’s consensus mechanism, known as the Unique Node List, delivers finality in about 4 seconds. This speed supports real-time settlement for tokenized assets. The ledger’s scripting capabilities remain less flexible than Ethereum’s smart contracts. For straightforward token issuance like gold-backed assets, this limitation carries little weight. The XRPL’s payment infrastructure already handles the core functions gold tokenization requires.

Institutional Interest Builds

Large financial institutions have begun exploring tokenized gold independently. HSBC recently launched its own tokenized gold offering, built on a private distributed ledger rather than a public network like the XRPL.

Ripple’s custody technology, gained through its acquisition of Metaco, is being used for secure storage of digital assets. This custody infrastructure positions Ripple to support institutional-grade tokenization efforts, separate from HSBC’s private ledger approach.

The supported tokens are XRP, SHx, USDf, SOIL, WETH, WBTC, mBTC, mTBILL, and mXRP. The list covers native assets, wrapped cryptocurrencies, and tokenized real-world assets. That range signals the integration targets both retail users and institutional participants dealing in regulated financial products.

mXRP is particularly relevant for XRP holders. Issued by Midas on the XRPL EVM, it is a yield-bearing token backed by XRP. Scam activity targeting XRP users appears to be increasing on X, prompting XRP Ledger validator Vet to issue a direct warning to the community.

Speaking on the platform, Vet said fraudulent accounts are now tagging users so frequently that his notification feed has become “completely unusable,” urging XRP holders to treat every unsolicited offer with extreme caution and avoid acting impulsively.

According to Vet, scammers are aggressively targeting members of the XRP community by repeatedly tagging them in fake giveaways and deceptive posts. He said his X notifications are flooded with scam tags every two minutes from multiple accounts, making it difficult to keep up with legitimate interactions on the platform.

The validator stressed that no one is giving away free XRP or other digital assets. He urged community members to remain skeptical of every unexpected offer, explaining that scammers rely on convincing users that they have discovered a genuine opportunity before attempting to steal their funds.

Vet Urges Community Members to Stay Vigilant

Vet expressed frustration at seeing community members engage with these fraudulent posts. He noted that some users continue asking whether the offers are real, despite the obvious warning signs.

He added that responding directly to scam posts creates another problem because it can increase their visibility through X’s engagement system, potentially exposing even more users to the fraudulent content.

Because of this, Vet encouraged XRP holders to adopt a cautious approach rather than reacting immediately to offers or messages that promise free tokens or rewards. His advice was simple: assume that anyone unexpectedly approaching you about your XRP may be attempting to take it and avoid taking action until the information has been independently verified.

He concluded his message by encouraging users to “sit on your hands” and do nothing when confronted with suspicious offers, emphasizing that patience is often the safest response when dealing with cryptocurrency-related promotions online.

Community Members Report Similar Experiences

The warning resonated with many users who replied to Vet’s post, describing similar experiences with scam-related notifications. Several commenters said they have been receiving frequent tags from suspicious accounts, with one user claiming they are tagged at least two or three times each day.

Another community member said the problem has become so severe that they have resorted to blocking scam accounts. Others reported receiving dozens of scam tags daily, illustrating how widespread the issue has become for active XRP users on X.

Not every response suggested the experience was universal. One verified user said they used to receive scam tags regularly but have noticed fewer of them recently, speculating that X may have improved its ability to hide or filter such content.

Another user without a verification badge said their notifications tend to slow down until they leave a meaningful comment on a popular account, after which scam tags begin appearing again.

Vet’s warning serves as a reminder that cryptocurrency scams continue to evolve alongside online communities. Other XRP community members, such as Digital Asset Investor, have also raised awareness about these scams.

More institutions are set to move onto the XRP Ledger. Crypto commentator Pumpius (@pumpius) took to X to declare Ripple’s recent bombshell announcement that could wipe out traditional finance overnight, pointing to the company’s strategic investments in ZILO and Licuido.

These two companies add regulated transfer agency, issuance, and collateral mobility to Ripple’s growing capital markets infrastructure on the XRPL.

The timing is also very notable as Aviva Investors recently tokenized its U.S. Dollar Liquidity Fund on the XRPL. This move is a concrete signal that institutional appetite for onchain finance is no longer theoretical.

Details of the Deal

Ripple invested in ZILO and Licuido to close specific infrastructure gaps that have held capital markets back for years. Collateral sits idle on balance sheets while settlement moves slower than it should. As a result, liquidity stays locked when it could be put to work.

ZILO handles digital transfer agency technology, supporting tokenized share classes as funds move onchain. Licuido is an FCA-regulated platform managing issuance, distribution, and execution of financial assets as digital collateral. Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD acts as the regulated cash leg for transactions, with everything settling atomically on the XRP Ledger.

The Structure Tells the Story

Pumpius described Ripple as building “full-blown capital markets” on the XRPL, and the structure Ripple has assembled supports that reading. Nigel Khakoo, SVP of Trading and Markets at Ripple, confirmed that asset managers including Aviva Investors, Franklin Templeton, and DBS are already deploying tokenized fund structures at scale. ZILO and Licuido provide the regulated infrastructure required to support that activity.

Pumpius warned that this announcement “could wipe out traditional finance overnight.” Phil Goffin, Founder and CEO at ZILO, said the investment accelerates work to serve institutions more effectively. Brian Lynch, CEO and Co-Founder at Licuido, said Ripple’s backing helps scale a collateral marketplace on the XRPL, giving institutions access to liquidity from assets that have long sat unused.

XRP at the Center

Every component of this system touches the XRP Ledger. Issuance and settlement happen on it, and collateral moves across it. As Ripple brings more institutional partners into this infrastructure, the XRP Ledger becomes the operational backbone for an increasing share of institutional digital finance.

Pumpius called it the “operating system of Wall Street 2.0.” He also noted that once this infrastructure goes live, it will make the old rails look obsolete. Given the partnerships Ripple has secured and the infrastructure now in place, that assessment is becoming increasingly difficult to argue against.
