A crypto account with a controversial past has returned to X, and the community is taking notice. Royal Kane, formerly known as Kane XBT, quietly reappeared on September 13. Royal Kane’s record extended beyond XRP. He called a BTC short at $125,700, and the asset dropped sharply after. In his own post, he confirmed the trade. Bitcoin peaked above $126,000 in early October, but the flash crash on October 10pulled the asset and the broader market down significantly.

He also claimed an ETH buy call at $1,600 in April 2025, with the asset reaching $5,000 within months. Despite the track record, his original account did not survive. Amonyx noted he “was later exposed as an insider and forced to delete an account with over 500k followers.” Royal Kane himself did not address the circumstances directly in his reintroduction post.

XRP leads Bitcoin and Ethereum in trading volume on South Korea’s Upbit exchange, with Xaif Crypto reporting more than $200 million in 24-hour activity.

The figures show XRP trading on one of South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, while additional data from the analyst shows strong activity across monthly and yearly periods.

“XRP IS DOMINATING UPBIT,” Xaif Crypto tweeted. The analyst cited $203.9 million in 24-hour XRP volume as the cryptocurrency reached 2,020 KRW. Bitcoin recorded $143 million, while Ethereum posted $119 million over the same period.

“Korea is trading XRP harder than Bitcoin and Ethereum,” Xaif Crypto added.

The attached data shows similarly strong XRP activity. The snapshot recorded approximately $215.1 million in daily XRP trading value, compared with $165 million for Bitcoin and $120.4 million for Ethereum.

XRP Posts Strong Monthly And Yearly Figures

The Upbit data also shows that XRP has maintained significant trading activity across longer periods. XRP recorded approximately $4.84 billion in monthly trading value. Bitcoin reached about $2.54 billion, while Ethereum recorded approximately $1.99 billion.

The yearly figures show another substantial difference. XRP generated approximately $68.89 billion in trading value during the measured period. Bitcoin recorded about $54.16 billion, while Ethereum reached roughly $42.33 billion.

The same snapshot placed XRP’s closing price at 2,027 KRW, which equated to approximately $1.46 based on the displayed exchange rate.

ChaCha referenced the longer-term figures in a comment beneath Xaif Crypto’s post. “That’s not new news! Daily, Monthly, and Yearly! They hold over 6.4B #1 exchange,” ChaCha wrote while sharing an image of Upbit’s XRP trading data.

Macro Bombastic also commented on XRP’s activity in South Korea, writing, “Korea always loves XRP, volume there hits different tbh.”

Upbit Moves 11 Million XRP

Xaif Crypto also reported another development involving XRP held on Upbit. In a separate post, the analyst said Upbit moved 11 million XRP worth $16 million to a newly created wallet.

The wallet then distributed XRP to deposit addresses linked to Binance, Bybit and Bitget. Xaif Crypto said the wallet’s balance subsequently fell to approximately 275,000 XRP.

These transfers show XRP moving from fresh wallet addresses associated with several major cryptocurrency exchanges. The transactions therefore provide additional data on XRP movements connected to the broader exchange market.

Ripple Envoy also commented on the trading figures, saying, “That’s a serious signal from Korea XRP isn’t just being held there; it’s being actively traded.”

Former Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett reported that the CFTC has submitted its crypto rulemaking to the White House for review.

The proposed rule is titled “Regulation Crypto Asset Transactions and Regulation Crypto Asset Markets.” The White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs received it on September 17.

The rule is tied to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The submission came just days after Chair Michael Selig said the agency was “locked in and ready to ship rules.”

Selig’s Commitment

Selig made his intentions clear at the CFTC’s inaugural Innovation Advisory Committee meeting on August 20. He directed staff to explore rules that would allow crypto exchanges to receive designation as a type of Designated Contract Market, specifically a “Crypto Asset Market.” Those designated entities would offer crypto asset trading on a leveraged or margin basis under CFTC oversight.

“If CLARITY continues to stall because of Democrat obstruction, the CFTC will utilize its existing authorities to begin establishing a regime for crypto asset markets,” Selig said. “We owe it to the American people to do so.”

He cited the CLARITY Act, which failed its Senate cloture vote on September 15, falling short at 49-50. The CFTC’s rulemaking submission two days later shows the agency moved immediately.

The OIRA Process

The submission to OIRA is a required procedural step before a proposed rule can move forward. OIRA reviews the rule, can request changes, and then clears it for public comment. The process is standard but consequential.

Once cleared, the CFTC publishes the proposed rule and opens a comment period. After that, the agency moves toward finalization. Selig has stated his goal is to finalize rules before the end of the current administration.

What This Means for XRP

The U.S. House Financial Services Committee voted 28-21 on September 16 to advance H.R. 8957, the American Reserve Modernization Act of 2026. The bill establishes a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a separate U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile within the Treasury Department.

Crypto analyst Diana (@InvestWithD) shared the official Committee Repository record confirming the vote result. This is legislative progress, but it is not yet law. The bill requires a full House floor vote and Senate passage before reaching the President’s desk.

What the Bill Creates

H.R. 8957 creates two distinct government crypto holdings. Bitcoin goes into the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, where it must be held for at least 20 years. All other digital assets go into the U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile. Federal agencies must report all digital assets they currently hold within 60 days of enactment. The Treasury then takes custody within 30 days after that

XRP has spent years trading at a fraction of Bitcoin and Ethereum’s value. That may be changing. Crypto analyst Dark Defender (@DefendDark) shared a chart showing XRP against Ethereum on a 10-day timeframe, and his read on the structure is significant.

The chart stretches from 2018 to a projected 2027 target. Dark Defender identifies a completed five-wave bearish cycle on the XRP/ETH pair, with Wave V bottoming at 0.0001251 ETH. From that low, he sees a new bullish Elliott Wave sequence beginning.

The Elliott Wave Structure

The current move off the bottom counts as a new five-wave impulse. Waves (1), (2), (3), and (4) are already visible on the chart. Wave (3) reached a high near 0.0013000 ETH before pulling back. Wave (4) retested the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level at 0.0003125 ETH.

Dark Defender projects Wave (5) to reach the 361.8% Fibonacci extension at 0.0022380 ETH, representing over $5.60 at current prices. That target sits well above the current price of 0.0005411 ETH. The RSI on the chart currently reads 42.82 on the signal line and 38.35 on the main line, both circled by the analyst to highlight a return from oversold conditions as Wave (4) completes.

XRP Dominance

Dark Defender’s thesis extends beyond price targets. He stated directly that “XRP will not only dominate Bitcoin but also Ether.” He added that we will see “XRP appreciate against Ether and Bitcoin, and then flip them instantly with Wave 5.” Notably, Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz recently stated that XRP will flip Bitcoin by rising above it. Dark Defender’s analysis mirrors that view.

XRP Appears Alongside Major Digital Assets

The August 3, 2026 Federal Register notice concerns a Cboe BZX Exchange proposal involving its rules for Commodity-Based Trust Shares. The document cites Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and XRP as examples of eligible assets under the exchange’s generic listing standards.

The notice explains that these assets qualify under the relevant standards because each has a qualifying futures market and an exchange-traded fund providing at least 40% economic exposure. This makes the wording more specific than a general declaration that the four assets have received identical regulatory classifications.

For XRP, the reference is nevertheless notable because the asset appears explicitly alongside Bitcoin, Ether and Solana in the same discussion concerning eligibility for regulated trust structures.

The Classification Does Not Approve an XRP ETF

The distinction between eligibility and approval remains important.

The Federal Register notice does not approve a new XRP ETF. Instead, it addresses proposed changes to the rules governing Commodity-Based Trust Shares and the conditions under which assets can satisfy the applicable listing standards.

The notice also discusses a proposed 15% buffer that could allow certain digital commodities that do not otherwise satisfy the generic requirements to be included under specified conditions. XRP could eventually overtake Bitcoin in market capitalization, according to David Schwartz.

Digital Perspectives brought the claim to its audience in a video attached to a post on X, featuring comments from the former Ripple CTO and XRP Ledger co-creator about whether XRP can surpass Bitcoin.

Digital Perspectives Features Schwartz’s Response

In the video, Digital Perspectives introduced Schwartz’s comments by noting that the former Ripple CTO and XRP Ledger co-creator had also opined that XRP could flip Bitcoin.

In the video, Schwartz was asked whether he believed XRP could overtake Bitcoin.

“Yeah, I do,” Schwartz replied.

He immediately clarified how he believes such an outcome could occur.

“But I think it wouldn’t happen from Bitcoin shrinking. It would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin.”

Digital Perspectives presented the remarks as the video’s central point, giving viewers Schwartz’s own explanation for why he considers an XRP flip possible.

Schwartz Sees Growth Across Crypto

Schwartz based his view on an expanding digital asset market. He said major cryptocurrencies could rise significantly rather than one asset needing to lose value for another to gain.

“We live in a world where digital assets are just wildly successful. They all probably grow,” Schwartz said. “Maybe a couple dies out, but all the major ones grow significantly.”

His view therefore does not depend on Bitcoin collapsing or losing most of its current market capitalization. Instead, XRP would need to outperform Bitcoin over time.

Schwartz also identified the XRP Ledger’s technology as a potential reason for XRP to capture more of that growth.

“And the XRP Ledger gets more of that growth because of its higher functionality and/or higher speed and/or people are interested in features that Bitcoin can’t support,” he said.

XRP Faces A Large Market Cap Gap

The current market capitalization difference between the two assets shows the scale of the potential move. Bitcoin’s market cap is around $1.54 trillion, while XRP’s is roughly 18 times smaller.

Matching Bitcoin’s current market capitalization would require XRP to add about $1.49 trillion in value. Based on current supply levels, that would place XRP near $24.50.

However, Schwartz did not give a $24.50 or $25 price target. The figure is a calculation based on current market capitalizations and XRP’s supply, not a prediction from Schwartz.

He instead focused on the conditions that could allow XRP to overtake Bitcoin. “I think that the world where that happens is the world where all the markets grow much, much larger,” Schwartz said.
