The XRP community on X was abuzz after XRP Captain (@UniverseTwenty) posted an image claiming to show Elon Musk holding a significant amount of XRP. The image, purportedly from a blockchain explorer, displayed a wallet labeled “~musk” containing 16.783 million XRP.
This sparked immediate excitement among XRP enthusiasts, with some believing this confirmed Musk’s involvement with the cryptocurrency. However, the validity of this claim was swiftly challenged by prominent figures within the XRP ecosystem.
Vet (@Vet_X0), an XRP Ledger (XRPL) validator, pointed out a crucial detail: anyone can create labels for accounts on blockchain explorers. These labels do not represent any form of official verification or confirmation of ownership.
The official X account of XRPScan, a leading blockchain explorer for XRP, further elaborated on the issue. They stated that it is highly improbable that the “~musk” wallet belongs to Elon Musk.
They drew a parallel with traditional email addresses and domain names, highlighting that anyone could theoretically claim an address like “elonmusk@gmail.com” or “elonmusk.com” if they were the first to register it.
Despite the swift debunking from experts, some within the XRP community continue to hold onto the belief that the “~musk” wallet might indeed belong to the tech billionaire. The XRP community has consistently tried to get Musk’s attention, hoping it will cause a price surge like Dogecoin when Musk tweeted about it.
The community often tries to tie his words and memes related to him to an XRP endorsement. This is not the first time Elon Musk’s name has been associated with XRP, and it most likely won’t be the last.
The visual similarity between the X app logo and the XRP logo has also fueled speculation within the XRP community. Some XRP enthusiasts believe this might lead to future integration of XRP into X’s payment system. Neither Musk nor X have confirmed this, but the XRP community is excited as this could significantly benefit XRP.
Although it is not certain if Musk will adopt XRP, Grok, the AI-powered chatbot that serves X’s premium users, has weighed in on XRP’s adoption as a payment option on X. Only time will tell if X adopts XRP. If it happens, it will certainly have a vast impact on the digital asset.
