Ripple’s “North Star” XRP is making headlines. According to t54.ai, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) has processed 10 million AI-Agent payments. Ayo Akinyele, Head of Engineering at RippleX, shared the news on X. This milestone arrived on October 1 as rising U.S. borrowing costs pushed crypto lower.
Agent Payments on XRPL
The x402 payment protocol, an open, HTTP-native standard, lets AI agents find and pay for inference, data access, and credit and financial APIs without human involvement, using XRP or RLUSD. XRPL has recorded 10.8 million transactions, and growth from 1 million to 10 million payments took under three months.
Activity now averages 500,000 payments daily across 2,287 live payable services and APIs. RLUSD has a $2.49 billion market capitalization, and t54 is a neutral trust layer backed by Ripple and Franklin Templeton.

XRP Price, Escrow and Tokenization
XRP fell 1.28% to $1.4928, with 3.28% dominance and $6.22 million in liquidations. The market ignored a scheduled escrow release of 1 billion XRP, worth about $1.49 billion, in tranches of 100 million, 200 million, 300 million, and 400 million. Escrow holds 31.845 billion XRP, and 68.13 billion circulate.
A pilot with Brazilian depository CSD BR will mirror BTG Pactual fund shares on XRPL as digital replicas, targeting $15 billion in tokenized assets by year-end; CSD BR’s books remain the legal register. Inclusion in the Cryptex ETF adds further support.
Bitcoin and Macroeconomic Pressure
Bitcoin failed to hold above $85,500 after PCE inflation of 3.4% undershot forecasts, returning to its September close of $83,600. It trades near $83,975.76 with 58.74% dominance, and Ethereum near $2,706.26 with 11.50%. The 10-year Treasury yield exceeded 5.3%, its highest since 2002, alongside a second-quarter GDP revision to +2.2%, expensive oil, and the budget deficit.
CoinGlass recorded $290.63 million in liquidations across 78,781 traders: $147.48 million in longs and $143.15 million in shorts. Spot BTC ETFs lost $148,690,000, ending a nine-day streak, and ETH ETFs lost $59,580,000. Citigroup raised its 12-month targets to $113,000 for Bitcoin and $3,028 for Ethereum.
AI Tokens and Robinhood Chain
NEAR Protocol leads AI tokens at $5.12 to $5.46, with a $6.7 to $6.8 billion market capitalization. At the HOOD Summit in Houston, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said Robinhood Chain, launched two months ago, leads developer activity through real-world asset products. Perpetual futures, with Lighter, and spot DEXs each exceed $1 billion daily.

Robinhood Ventures will underwrite tokenized private company shares, expanding 200 stock tokens to several thousand. Transluce recorded a failed AI agent attempt to hack Library and Archives Canada, and Asymmetric Security found AI model activity on at least 55 sites, including the SEC and CDC.
Security, Regulation and Outlook
Bitcoin closed the third quarter up 42.71%, with September up 6.33%, and October averaging +18.52%. Hackers stole $766.49 million in September, up 462%. BitMart admitted a $319.5 million hidden deficit in 2021. Commissioner Hester Peirce leaves the SEC on October 2, before the October 20 comment deadline for Regulation of Crypto Assets.
On October 2, observers will watch XRP return to escrow, XRPL validator support above 80% for the Permission Delegation and Batch soft forks, and Bitcoin holding 82,000 to 83,000.
