Crypto researcher SMQKE recently highlighted a UCL report that names XRP and IOTA among protocols to propel the development of the Internet of Value (IoV).
In an X post, SMQKE wrote, “XRP AND IOTA WILL PROPEL THE INTERNET OF VALUE INTO DEVELOPMENT” He accompanied the statement with a highlighted section from a UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies report and added, “XRP + IOTA =Internet of Value” and “Documented below.”
The highlighted passage says the research examined “specific protocols that propel the development of the IoV such as XRP and IOTA.” The report therefore directly names XRP and IOTA in its discussion of protocols that could support the development of the Internet of Value.
The UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies conducts research into distributed ledger technology and its integration into economic and social systems.

Report Defines the Internet of Value
The document describes the IoV as the instant transfer of assets expressed in monetary terms over the internet between peers without intermediaries.
The report also explains that distributed ledgers can expand the IoV by enabling digital assets and digital representations of claims on physical or intangible assets to remain unique as ownership and usage rights move without a trusted central authority.
According to the report, blockchain provides a foundation for the IoV because it can support trust and transparency while enabling faster value transfers. The research also links the IoV’s development with smart contracts, cryptography, and consensus mechanisms.
The report places its reference to XRP and IOTA within this broader examination of protocols and technologies that could support the IoV.
SMQKE Highlights XRP and IOTA Connection
SMQKE used the report to connect XRP and IOTA with the Internet of Value. His post did not separately explain how each protocol could contribute to the IoV. Instead, he directed attention to the UCL document as the basis for the claim.
The report separately discusses blockchain’s potential to support new digital business models and faster value transfers. It also examines how blockchain could work with the Internet of Things, noting that connected devices could conduct machine-to-machine transactions and interact through smart contracts.
The document further states that advances in artificial intelligence and 5G could support the evolution of the Internet of Things. It also examines how greater information transparency and reduced reliance on intermediaries could address certain transaction problems.

Community Reactions
SMQKE’s post also drew comments about the UCL research. MjB38 noted that the report identifies XRP and IOTA as examples of “specific protocols that propel the development of the IoV,” describing the reference as a noteworthy institutional research point for XRP.
Another commenter, Macro Bombastic, reacted to the combining of two protocols, saying, “xrp plus iota is a wild combo tbh, I kinda see it.”
For SMQKE, the UCL report provides the documented basis for connecting XRP and IOTA with the development of the Internet of Value.
