Insight from an Expert on Choosing Between Ripple Stock and XRP

Panos Mekras, founder and CEO of DigitalGen, offered his perspective on choosing between Ripple stock and XRP in a post on X. This has been a cause for debate within the community for some time, and Mekras, a financial expert, has weighed in.

According to Mekras, those who believe in Ripple and its business model can go for its stock. Those who have more faith in XRP/XRPL should go for XRP. He pointed out that XRP is a universal digital asset with multiple use cases, and XRPL is tech anyone can use and build on.

He highlighted in one of his replies that XRP could bring higher returns. His reason is that Ripple is just one company, while XRPL can accommodate thousands of companies and millions of users.

Although Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) David Schwartz has confirmed that a Ripple Initial Public Offering (IPO) is coming soon, Ripple is still a private company, and not everyone can buy Ripple stock. One user asked for guidance on how to buy Ripple stock, and Mekras replied with links.

However, buying Ripple stock isn’t as straightforward. Because Ripple is not a public company, only sophisticated/accredited investors can buy Ripple stock. This was the complaint of another user who replied, “I would absolutely buy the stock if I was an accredited investor cause you know Ripple is going to make Ripple win.”

The U.S. Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) has a list of criteria users must meet to become accredited investors. These involve financial and professional criteria that the regular citizen might find hard to meet.

One user asked why they couldn’t buy both, and Mekras replied that buying both is also a good option. However, he highlighted that the question was where people would invest more of their money, pointing out that most XRP holders believe more in Ripple than in XRP.

According to Mekras, people who rely on Ripple’s business model to boost the price of XRP will be better off investing in Ripple Stock. Another crypto expert recently explained why users shouldn’t bank on Ripple alone to increase XRP’s price.

The same user agreed but pointed out the difficulty involved in buying Ripple stock. He stated that more users would do so when Ripple goes public. Choosing between investing in Ripple stock or XRP ultimately depends on each person’s risk tolerance and long-term goals. Both options have their merits, as Mekras has pointed out, and are both for different kinds of investors.
