Elon Musk’s Recent Post Ignites XRP Army to Push for XRP Payment Adoption

X, Elon Musk’s social media platform, is embroiled in a controversy regarding free speech and content moderation. The platform faces a daily fine of $20,000 in Brazil after refusing to comply with a court order to block certain accounts.

The situation began when a Brazilian Supreme Court judge mandated the block of accounts accused of spreading misinformation. X, under Musk’s leadership, defied the order, citing principles of free speech. This resulted in the aforementioned daily fine.

Doge Designer (@cb_doge), an account associated with Dogecoin, took to the platform to express support for Musk and X’s stance on free speech.

He highlighted the financial penalty as a consequence of “fighting for free speech in Brazil” and encouraged users to subscribe to X’s premium services (X Premium and X Premium+). He wrote, “Subscribing is the only way to ensure that such governments cannot demand censorship of this platform.”

Elon Musk’s Response

Musk responded to Doge Designer’s post, expressing appreciation for the support and acknowledging its positive impact.

The situation has sparked a wider debate. Supporters of X’s stance argue that the platform upholds the crucial right to free speech and prevents government censorship.

Critics, however, argue that complete freedom of speech can increase the spread of misinformation and hate speech. They advocate for a balance between free speech and content moderation to prevent online harm.

The XRP Community Weighs In

XRPcryptowolf (@XRPcryptowolf), a prominent member of the XRP community responded to Musk, but his intentions did not revolve around the free speech debate. He attempted to leverage the situation to gain Musk’s attention regarding XRP, humorously asking for his XRP wallet for donation.

Musk recently revealed that Tesla will accept Dogecoin payments, and other crypto communities are trying to get his attention and potentially get their preferred cryptocurrency accepted or endorsed by the billionaire.

The situation in Brazil raises significant questions about the future of online content moderation. It remains to be seen how X will navigate this situation. However, Ripple Chief Technology Officer (CTO) David Schwartz does not believe Musk is truly a champion of free speech, making him recently called out the billionaire.
