Crypto enthusiast unknownDLT believes XRP could eventually play a role in settling transactions within the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), one of the most important institutions in U.S. securities markets.
The prediction comes as DTCC advances its tokenization plans and Ripple Prime secures a position within its clearing infrastructure.
“The DTCC will settle in XRP watch how it unfolds,” unknownDLT wrote. The commentator added that only those who understood the development early would experience the moment firsthand, while others would watch from the sidelines.
Although DTCC has not confirmed plans to use XRP for settlement, Ripple Prime’s recent entry into its clearing network provides a concrete development behind the prediction.

Ripple Prime Enters DTCC’s Clearing Network
Ripple Prime joined the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) participant directory on March 2, 2026, under clearing broker code 0443. A DTCC notice dated February 27 confirmed approval for its over-the-counter trading activity.
This development gives Ripple Prime access to established securities-clearing infrastructure. However, it does not confirm that DTCC will use XRP to settle securities transactions.
DTCC is also preparing to tokenize Russell 1000 stocks, major exchange-traded funds and U.S. Treasuries. Its plans could expand the use of blockchain infrastructure in traditional financial markets, although DTCC has not confirmed that XRP will power these transactions.
Commenter Predicts Wider Institutional Adoption
X user RESEDARAN responded to unknownDLT by connecting the prediction to regulatory changes and the potential for greater institutional adoption.
“The BCBS was to make a decision back in January 2026 but did not, once they do, it will only take one institution to begin the flow,” RESEDARAN wrote. The commenter predicted that DTCC would become the first of several institutions to adopt the technology.
The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) introduced its crypto-asset exposure requirements on January 1, 2026, rather than postponing their implementation. However, the committee is preparing revisions to its 2022 guidance, with further developments expected during 2026.
Neither the regulatory changes nor the ongoing review confirms that DTCC will adopt XRP. RESEDARAN’s prediction remains a personal assessment of how institutional adoption could develop.
XRP and the Cost of Pre-Funding Payments
RESEDARAN also noted that traditional payment arrangements require businesses to pre-fund transactions, leaving substantial capital tied up in the financial system.
“For the past 50 years corporate has had to pre-fund every single payment allowing $ trillions for banks to play with and manipulate all from swift,” the commenter wrote. RESEDARAN believes Ripple’s technology and XRP could help reduce this reliance on pre-funded liquidity.
Pre-funding is a recognised challenge in correspondent banking, where financial institutions may need to maintain balances across different markets to facilitate cross-border payments. However, the claim that trillions of dollars are tied up specifically through this process should be treated as commentary rather than a verified statistic.
For XRP, the distinction between existing institutional access and confirmed settlement use remains important. Ripple Prime has secured a place within DTCC’s clearing network, but DTCC has yet to announce XRP as a settlement asset. UnknownDLT’s prediction therefore depends on a future development that the institution has not confirmed.
