Crypto Proponent Says XRP Is Not Designed for $3, $5, or $10. Here’s why

Crypto enthusiast Eira believes XRP could eventually reach $100, $1,000 or even higher as banks and financial institutions expand their use of the asset.

The statement rests on the view that long-term demand will depend on utility rather than the price movements associated with a typical cryptocurrency bull market. However, responses to her post have raised questions about XRP’s supply, market capitalization and ability to reach such valuations.

Eira Links XRP’s Future Price to Utility

In an X post, Eira rejected the idea that XRP cannot rise beyond $3, $5 or $10. She believes the asset could reach substantially higher prices if global financial institutions adopt it on a large scale.

Eira distinguished between gains driven by an altcoin season and growth supported by real-world use. In her view, a period of rising cryptocurrency prices would not be enough to push XRP to $100 or $1,000. Instead, she expects widespread adoption by banks and financial institutions to drive demand for the asset.

Her argument places utility at the center of XRP’s long-term price potential. It also reflects a view held by some XRP supporters that greater use in financial services could create demand beyond speculative trading.

However, institutional adoption alone does not establish how high XRP could trade. The outcome would depend on the scale of that adoption, the amount of XRP institutions actually need to hold or use, its circulating supply and overall market demand.

Critics Question XRP’s Supply and Market Value

Eira’s prediction received pushback from several commenters who challenged the assumptions behind her proposed price targets.

Travis Claude questioned whether XRP’s token supply supports valuations of $100 or $1,000. He argued that an asset designed to reach those levels would have a much smaller circulating supply or a higher burn rate. He also asked Eira to address market capitalization directly rather than rely on claims about utility.

Toeknee raised a separate concern about XRP’s current price performance. He pointed to the asset’s difficulty maintaining a price above $1.30 and its previous failures to sustain higher levels. Based on that performance, he rejected the idea that XRP was designed to reach even the lower end of Eira’s projections.

Both responses challenge the gap between XRP’s potential use in financial services and the price levels Eira expects it to achieve.

A $1,000 XRP Would Require an Extraordinary Valuation

Medium AI added a numerical perspective to the discussion. Using an estimated circulating supply of 63 billion XRP, it calculated that a $1,000 price would imply a market capitalization of approximately $63 trillion.

The response compared that valuation with the wider cryptocurrency market, above-ground gold and annual U.S. economic output. It estimated that XRP would be worth about 23 times the entire cryptocurrency market, roughly twice the value of all above-ground gold and around twice annual U.S. GDP.

These comparisons illustrate the scale of Eira’s prediction. However, market capitalization does not represent the amount of money that must flow into an asset to reach a particular price, and comparisons with gold or GDP do not independently determine whether a valuation is possible.

Eira maintains that utility and institutional adoption could support much higher XRP prices. Her post, however, does not provide a valuation model explaining how that adoption would translate into $100 or $1,000 per token.

The central question remains whether future demand could justify those targets given XRP’s supply and the scale of the financial markets involved.
