Coinbase: Several XRP ETFs Are Set to Launch

A new research note from Coinbase Institutional has ignited speculation that the next wave of cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds will include multiple spot XRP products.

The report, highlighted by market watcher SMQKE on X, underscores that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is currently reviewing more than 90 new crypto ETF applications. This figure signals a potentially transformative moment for digital asset markets.

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart added perspective, noting that issuers “are gonna launch a lot of products and try to find something that sticks.” According to Seyffart, the next 12 to 18 months could see “hundreds of crypto-ETF launches,” including funds tied to XRP, Solana, Dogecoin, and other high-demand digital assets.

Amended filings signal momentum

Recent activity in SEC filings has given analysts more reason to believe that XRP ETFs are inching closer to launch. Within the past week, several applicants amended their prospectuses, a process that typically reflects ongoing discussions with regulators and the resolution of technical or compliance requirements.

One such filing came from Volatility Shares, which submitted a post-effective amendment for its proposed spot XRP ETF under the ticker XRPI. Similar amendments have been spotted across other issuers’ submissions, signaling that sponsors are fine-tuning details such as custodial arrangements, risk disclosures, and surveillance-sharing agreements.

These adjustments are often the final steps before the SEC makes a formal ruling, prompting speculation that the first wave of approvals could arrive before the end of 2025.

The expanding issuer landscape

The XRP ETF race includes a diverse mix of traditional asset managers and crypto-native firms. Legacy financial institutions bring scale, brand recognition, and distribution channels, while specialized crypto issuers tend to emphasize innovation and market familiarity. Both camps are positioning themselves to capture what many believe could be significant inflows from institutional and retail investors alike.

Importantly, the SEC has scheduled decision deadlines for several altcoin ETF proposals in October, a timeline that heightens expectations for concentrated announcements later this year. Analysts suggest that well-prepared XRP products with robust custodial partnerships and competitive fees will stand the best chance of securing approval and attracting meaningful assets under management.

XRP price reaction and investor outlook

The market has already shown signs of cautious optimism. As of report time, XRP is trading at $2.93. This level represents a firm rebound compared to early-year volatility, reflecting growing confidence that regulatory clarity could open new demand channels.

Still, historical precedent from Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs suggests that not all products succeed equally. The largest inflows typically consolidate around a handful of low-cost, institutionally trusted funds. For XRP, factors such as expense ratios, liquidity, and the credibility of custodial partners will likely determine which ETFs dominate.

Looking ahead

The findings amplified by SMQKE highlight a pivotal period for XRP and the broader altcoin ETF market. With issuers actively amending filings and positioning themselves ahead of SEC rulings, the stage is set for what could be one of the most consequential developments in XRP’s history.

Whether the upcoming launches spark sustained inflows or face early challenges will depend on execution, investor sentiment, and regulatory follow-through. For now, all eyes remain on the SEC’s next moves — and on the issuers racing to be first to market.
