Cardano’s development arm, Input Output Global (IOG), has released Daedalus v7.0.0, the latest version of its full-node wallet designed for desktop users. This update introduces significant enhancements to ADA delegation, preparing the blockchain ecosystem for the upcoming Cardano Constitution referendum.
The new Daedalus version announced on December 10, 2024, focuses on improving Cardano’s governance framework. It introduces a mechanism allowing ADA holders to delegate their voting power to designated representatives (DReps), who act on behalf of the community in governance decisions.
Additionally, Daedalus v7.0.0 provides an option for users to select an automatic voting mode, which includes abstention or a “no confidence” stance. This ensures that all ADA wallet holders, regardless of their level of engagement, have a say in governance matters.
The updated wallet is available in three iterations: mainnet, pre-production, and preview environments. IOG has also reminded users to remain vigilant against scams, warning that Daedalus is exclusively a desktop application. Claims of “mobile Daedalus” wallets or similar services are fraudulent.
Existing Daedalus users will receive a prompt to upgrade through the software’s built-in newsfeed. A new voting tab has been added, allowing users to register their preferences for governance participation across all wallets linked to Daedalus.
To safeguard against fraudulent activity, IOG emphasizes the importance of downloading Daedalus only from official Cardano channels. Community members are encouraged to verify all updates and announcements to avoid falling victim to scams.
The release of Daedalus v7.0.0 marks a pivotal step in the asset’s journey toward decentralization, as the community prepares to vote on the Cardano Constitution in January 2025. The Constitution outlines core principles aimed at solidifying the network’s commitment to decentralization and self-governance.
Earlier this month, a draft of the Constitution received approval during a convention held in Buenos Aires. The upcoming referendum will allow ADA holders to adopt or reject the proposed framework, making it one of the most significant governance events in Cardano’s history.
With the introduction of enhanced delegation features and voting options in Daedalus v7.0.0, the company continues to position itself as a leader in blockchain governance. The new update empowers users to actively participate in decision-making processes while providing tools to ensure their voices are heard.
As the January referendum approaches, the ADA community is encouraged to leverage the updated Daedalus wallet to prepare for their role in shaping the future of the asset.
