Hopes for an imminent launch of ProShares’ XRP futures-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been dashed, following a new report from Bloomberg. Despite widespread excitement over the weekend, it has now been confirmed that the rumored April 30 launch date was based on outdated information, not on any recent regulatory approval.
Misinformation Sparks Confusion
The confusion began when several cryptocurrency media outlets published stories claiming the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had approved ProShares’ XRP ETFs. These reports referenced a regulatory filing originally submitted on April 15, which was incorrectly portrayed as a fresh development. The outdated document triggered a wave of misinformation on social media.
UPDATE: a lot people posting/reporting that @ProShares will be launching XRP ETFs on April 30th. We’ve confirmed that’s not the case. We don’t have a confirmed launch date yet but we believe they will launch — and likely launch in the short or possibly medium term.

No Confirmed Launch Date Yet
While ProShares did initially aim for an April 30 target when it filed earlier this year, that date was always provisional. Bloomberg has now clarified that no definitive launch date has been set for the XRP futures ETFs as of Monday.
Although expectations remain that these products will eventually debut, investors should be prepared for possible delays, with a launch potentially occurring either in the short or medium term.

Spotlight on Spot XRP ETFs
Attention is also increasingly shifting to the pending applications for spot XRP ETFs. ProShares, along with other major firms like Grayscale, Bitwise, Canary Capital, 21Shares, WisdomTree, CoinShares, and Franklin Templeton, are all awaiting SEC decisions on their filings.
Later this year, SEC Chair Paul Atkins is expected to weigh heavily on whether these spot products move forward, a decision that could have major implications for XRP’s market presence. For now, the XRP ETF dream remains alive — but not quite as immediate as some had hoped.
