XRP and Shiba Inu could gain broader access to Japan’s digital asset market after a major regulatory step by Laser Digital Japan.
Crypto exchange Bitrue highlighted a report from crypto news outlet BSCN on X, stating that the Nomura-backed firm has completed registration as a crypto asset exchange service provider in Japan.
The development could expand the availability of both XRP and SHIB through new infrastructure designed to support local virtual asset service providers and institutional market participants.
Bitrue summarized the development on X with the statement, “$XRP and $SHIB are coming to Japan,” directing attention to BSCN’s report on Laser Digital’s registration and its planned services.
According to BSCN, Laser Digital Japan will initially handle six crypto assets. The assets identified in the report include Ethereum, XRP, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin and Shiba Inu.

XRP and SHIB Included Among Initial Assets
The inclusion of XRP and SHIB places both assets within Laser Digital Japan’s initial crypto infrastructure plans. BSCN reported that the firm intends to use its newly registered operations to improve liquidity for local virtual asset service providers.
The report did not state that XRP or SHIB would immediately become available across every Japanese crypto platform. Instead, it described Laser Digital’s planned role in supporting market infrastructure and improving liquidity for companies operating within Japan’s regulated virtual asset sector.
For XRP, the development could provide another route toward increased market access if institutional and local trading services expand as planned. SHIB would also gain from the same infrastructure if participating service providers make the asset available through their platforms.
Institutional Trading Services Planned
BSCN also reported that Laser Digital plans to introduce institutional trading services in Japan. These services could potentially increase access to XRP and SHIB among professional and institutional market participants.
Laser Digital operates with backing from Nomura, one of Japan’s major financial institutions. Its registration therefore represents a significant development for the firm as it expands its digital asset operations within Japan’s regulated financial environment.
The company’s focus on liquidity and institutional trading could also support the development of Japan’s cryptocurrency market. Rather than simply adding individual tokens to a retail trading platform, Laser Digital’s reported plans center on infrastructure and services for other market participants.
For XRP and SHIB, the reported plans could create additional access in Japan as Laser Digital develops its infrastructure and institutional services.
