A Nigerian law firm representing Binance has expressed serious concerns regarding the health of Tigran Gambaryan, an American executive for the cryptocurrency company. Mr. Gambaryan is currently detained at the Kuje Correctional Centre as part of an ongoing legal case
The law firm, Aluko & Oyebode, sent a letter to the deputy chief registrar of the Federal High Court detailing Mr. Gambaryan’s condition. The letter, titled “Application for the Provision of Medical Treatment to Mr. Tigran Gambaryan at Nizamiye Hospital,” emphasizes the urgency of the situation.

According to the letter, Mr. Gambaryan, the head of financial crimes compliance for Binance, suffered a breakdown in prison on May 23rd. Medical personnel administered intravenous (IV) treatment for malaria. The legal team further argues that Mr. Gambaryan’s health is deteriorating and requires comprehensive medical attention beyond what the correctional facility can provide.
The letter raises concerns about the Kuje Medium Correctional Facility’s suitability for Mr. Gambaryan’s treatment. The facility is reportedly undergoing renovations, hindering its ability to provide adequate medical care. Additionally, Mr. Gambaryan’s status as an American citizen is highlighted, with the argument that he lacks the immunity to malaria possessed by the general Nigerian population.
The law firm implores the court to grant their urgent request for Mr. Gambaryan’s transfer to Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja, citing the critical need for a comprehensive medical evaluation and essential treatment to safeguard his well-being. This transfer, they argue, is not merely a convenience but a medical necessity.

The letter details a concerning incident that transpired last Thursday in the courtroom. According to the report, Mr. Gambaryan collapsed. This incident supports the claim surrounding his deteriorating health.
The law firm emphasizes that this experience serves as a reminder of the seriousness of his condition and the potential for further complications if proper medical intervention is not provided immediately.
By highlighting both the need for a comprehensive diagnosis and the gravity stressed by the recent courtroom incident, the law firm aims to build a compelling case for Mr. Gambaryan’s transfer. They are, in essence, requesting the court to prioritize his health and well-being by allowing him to receive the necessary medical attention at a facility equipped to address his complex needs.
