Ripple CEO Breaks Big BlackRock News for XRP Holders

The line between traditional finance and blockchain is fading fast. Over the past year, tokenized U.S. Treasury funds, dollar-backed stablecoins, and enterprise-grade settlement networks have moved from theory to reality.

Markets that once paused at closing bells now trade continuously, and the latest announcement from Ripple’s chief executive underscores just how quickly this transformation is accelerating.

BlackRock, VanEck, and 24/7 On-Chain Liquidity

Brad Garlinghouse revealed that investors in BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) and VanEck’s VBILL tokenized Treasury fund can now redeem shares for Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin or Ethereum (ETH) around the clock through the regulated Securitize platform.

He added that the capability to redeem directly for RLUSD on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is next in line, signaling a powerful new use case for Ripple’s technology and its growing stablecoin ecosystem.

Why BUIDL and VBILL Matter

BlackRock’s BUIDL has already attracted more than a billion dollars in assets by offering tokenized exposure to U.S. Treasuries with settlement on public blockchains. VanEck’s VBILL, launched through the same Securitize infrastructure, follows a similar model.

Both funds enable qualified investors to generate traditional yields while holding blockchain tokens that can be transferred or used as collateral in real-time.

RLUSD and the XRP Advantage

RLUSD, Ripple’s fully reserved U.S. dollar stablecoin, operates on Ethereum and XRPL, enabling fast, low-cost settlement with full backing by dollars and short-term Treasuries.

With RLUSD redemption integrated into major tokenized funds, investors can seamlessly switch between yield-bearing fund shares and a stablecoin on the XRP Ledger, bypassing traditional banking hours and clearing systems. This establishes a direct connection between Ripple’s network and the world’s largest asset manager for XRP holders and institutions.

Confirmed Progress and the Road Ahead

The live functionality—BUIDL and VBILL shares redeemable for RLUSD or ETH through Securitize—is already a reality. Garlinghouse’s statement that RLUSD/XRPL redemptions are “soon to come” highlights a rollout that is firmly underway, not a distant hope.

All of the technical pieces, from Securitize’s regulated transfer agent services to RLUSD’s dual-chain design, are in place to make XRPL integration the natural next step.

A Milestone for Institutional Blockchain Adoption

For XRP’s global community, this development represents more than another partnership. It showcases Ripple’s role at the center of institutional finance’s shift to always-on blockchain rails.

When BlackRock’s tokenized treasuries can be redeemed into a Ripple stablecoin and settled on XRPL, the promise of real-world assets moving at internet speed is no longer theoretical—it is happening now, and it places XRP’s ecosystem squarely in the path of mainstream financial innovation.
