The Shifu token, a new meme coin, has sparked some controversy and curiosity within the Shiba Inu community, particularly regarding its connection to Shiba Inu’s ecosystem and its choice of launch platform. The meme coin recently completed its presale but has not yet launched on Shibarium.
The Shifu meme coin comes from a collaboration between Shiba Inu and the blockchain platform Imaginary Ones. It was announced in early December that 30% of the supply will be airdropped to holders of SHIB, BUBBLE, LEASH, and the IO NFT.
However, the delayed launch of Shifu on Shibarium has raised questions about its integration with Shiba Inu’s broader ecosystem, especially given the apparent excitement shown by Shytoshi Kusama, Shiba Inu’s lead developer, and other prominent figures in the ecosystem like Kaal Dhairya and Lucie.
Questions About Shifu’s Role in the Ecosystem
A community member raised concerns on X, questioning why Shifu wasn’t launching on Shibarium yet, despite endorsements from Kusama, Dhairya, and Lucie.
The user also wondered if the profits generated from Shifu would contribute to Shiba Inu’s token burn initiatives or benefit the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The community member noted that this inquiry was a genuine request for clarification, not an attempt to spread FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt).
In response, Kusama addressed these concerns, explaining that Shifu is “literally a token by a legit project” that plans to airdrop the majority of its supply to holders of Shiba Inu’s SHIB, LEASH, and BONE. Kusama emphasized that the token could be integrated with Shibarium in the future, along with other collaborative efforts.
His reply highlighted that the community’s skepticism might be rooted in misunderstandings about the project’s intentions and the team’s commitment to the success of the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

The Shiba Inu developer further noted that despite any initial confusion or frustration, the team was offering “FREE tokens” to those involved, stating that their effort was to benefit the community.
Kusama’s response suggests that while Shifu’s release and strategy may not have been clear to all community members, the team was confident in the project’s long-term potential and purpose.
Kusama Addresses Complaints About SHIB Price
The Shiba Inu lead developer also addressed complaints about the SHIB price. He wrote, “And for those saying token go down you have no clue how hard we’ve worked for the success of EVERYTHING Shib. But it’s fine, you will soon get it. Until then, enjoy FREE tokens.”
It is literally a token by a legit project that wants to airdrop the majority of the supply to Shib Leash AND Bone. The token can then be ported to Shibarium and much more as we work with them. Why compliants sers? And for those saying token go down you have no clue how hard…

The original poster responded courteously, acknowledging Kusama’s explanation and expressing support for the Shiba Inu team. He reiterated that the inquiry was not a complaint but a genuine question.
The user also suggested that the Shiba Inu community might have responded more positively if Shifu had launched directly on Shibarium. However, reports suggest that the meme coin will launch on Shibarium and the Ethereum blockchain, and there have been no conflicting reports at press time.
