Russia’s planned cryptocurrency trading launch on December 1 could create new opportunities for institutional participation in digital assets, with XRP already having an established presence in the Moscow Exchange’s derivatives market.
Financial expert Levi believes the development could increase demand for XRP, particularly as Russian institutions gain access to regulated cryptocurrency trading and cross-border transactions.
In a video accompanying his post on X, Levi described the development as a major event for XRP holders. He focused on the Moscow Exchange’s preparations for cryptocurrency trading and its existing XRP-related financial products.

Moscow Exchange Prepares for December Launch
Levi explained that the Moscow Exchange plans to introduce cryptocurrency trading from December 1, with transactions available during its regular trading sessions. The planned schedule will run from 6:50 a.m. until 11:50 p.m., giving participants approximately 17 hours of access each trading day.
The launch follows Russia’s introduction of new cryptocurrency regulations in September 2026. The legislation allows qualified investors to trade cryptocurrencies without an annual purchase limit. It also permits exporters and importers to use digital assets for cross-border settlements without restrictions.
These changes give financial institutions and businesses a regulated route to access cryptocurrency markets. However, the initial Moscow Exchange offering is expected to include Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT for non-qualified investors.
Levi also referenced the exchange’s existing XRP infrastructure. The Moscow Exchange has established an XRP price index and listed futures contracts linked to that index. Its official website confirms that the MOEX Ripple Index tracks XRP/USDT prices across major cryptocurrency exchanges.
Why Levi Connects the Development to XRP
Levi believes the expansion of regulated cryptocurrency trading could increase demand for assets capable of supporting international transactions.
He focused on the potential need for a liquid digital asset that financial institutions can use to move funds between countries. XRP’s transaction speed and role in the XRP Ledger’s payment infrastructure formed the basis of his assessment.
He suggested that increased institutional activity could create additional demand for XRP if financial institutions adopt the asset for cross-border settlements.
However, the Moscow Exchange’s XRP index and futures products do not establish that the exchange will introduce direct XRP trading alongside its initial December offering. They provide existing exposure to XRP’s market price through derivatives.
Levi nevertheless believes the combination of regulated cryptocurrency access and established XRP-related products could create favorable conditions for the asset.
XRP Holders Question the Potential Market Impact
Responses to Levi’s post showed different expectations about how the development could affect XRP.
One commenter, TRENCH RIDER, questioned whether widespread XRP adoption would require prior coordination among financial institutions. The commenter suggested that developments reported in the news could form part of a much larger plan involving institutional participants.
Another user, 2ASteve, raised concerns about XRP’s market performance, commenting that its price could remain flat despite the developments.
Levi’s central argument remains that Russia’s expanding cryptocurrency infrastructure could increase institutional activity and create additional opportunities for XRP. Whether that activity translates into actual XRP adoption and higher market demand will depend on which digital assets businesses and financial institutions choose for their transactions.
