A familiar name in the XRP community made a move that caught people’s attention. Bird (@Bird_XRPL), a well-known analyst, CEO of Drop, and prominent voice in the XRPL ecosystem, publicly announced on X that he had applied for a position at Ripple.
He tagged Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse directly in the post and included a screenshot confirming his application had been received.
Bird laid out his credentials. He cited over 10 years in marketing, 6 years holding XRP, and 2 years of daily building on the XRPL. He believes the time had come to formalize his involvement with Ripple.
Hey @bgarlinghouse, I just applied to work for Ripple.
10+ years working in marketing.
6 years holding XRP.
2 years building on the XRPL every single day.Thought it was finally time to throw my hat in the ring 🤝

Support From the Community
The reaction across the XRP community was largely positive. Several people wished him well and expressed genuine enthusiasm about the prospect. One person called it a dream job, and another noted he had applied to Ripple multiple times before, offering encouragement from experience.
The NDA Conversation
A notable thread of concern ran through the responses. One person jokingly reminded Bird that NDAs apply to humans, not birds. Ripple is known for its extensive use of NDAs. While many responded with humor, some highlighted this fact as a serious problem.
One commenter predicted more seriously that landing the job would end his ability to post publicly about XRP. He has been a vocal supporter of the digital asset for years, consistently sharing bullish predictions. However, working with NDAs could limit that activity. Someone else noted that Bird had already shared a great deal of information and suggested an NDA would put a stop to that.
One community member also pointed out that Bird would be teaching Ripple to throw breadcrumbs to the community, a nod to his reputation for sharing insights.
Flipping the Switch and More Humor
A section of the community leaned into humor. Several responses referenced the long-running XRP “flip the switch” narrative. One person humorously suggested Bird find the room Ripple with the switch and flip it. Another asked whether Bird applied for the role of flipping the switch, or whether that role had already been filled.

One person jokingly reminded Bird to credit him for the back-room DeFi work that made it all possible. Another asked if he would show up to the office in a bird costume.
What Comes Next?
Garlinghouse has described XRP as Ripple’s North Star, and Bird has always been a voice for the community that backs the asset. The application screenshot showed him already through the initial screen and team interview stages, with an on-site interview next on the tracker.
