Ripple’s latest 1 billion XRP escrow unlock is a familiar monthly process. As usual, it quickly locked 70% back into escrow.
Crypto analyst Xaif Crypto reported that Ripple returned 700 million XRP to escrow through two transactions involving 400 million XRP and 300 million XRP.
That leaves 300 million XRP outside the new locks. The difference matters because the market often focuses on the initial 1 billion XRP unlock without separating the amount Ripple ultimately keeps outside escrow.

The 1 Billion XRP Unlock Is Not The Main Difference
Ripple regularly unlocks 1 billion XRP from escrow as part of its established release system. The company does not necessarily put the entire amount into circulation after each unlock.
Instead, Ripple can return unused XRP to escrow. The latest cycle followed that process, but Xaif Crypto focused on the speed and size of the re-locks. After the 1 billion XRP release, Ripple moved 700 million XRP back into escrow.
That means the company returned 70% of the unlocked XRP to escrow and left 30%, or 300 million XRP, outside the new locks.
Ripple Split The 700 Million XRP Into Two Locks
Xaif Crypto identified two separate re-escrow transactions. Ripple locked 400 million XRP in one transaction and another 300 million XRP in a second transaction.
The split gives the latest activity a more specific structure than the simple headline of a 1 billion XRP monthly unlock. Instead of leaving the entire unlocked amount outside escrow, Ripple quickly moved most of it back under escrow restrictions.
Ripple’s escrow system controls when locked XRP can become available again. The company therefore keeps the 700 million XRP under those restrictions rather than treating the entire 1 billion XRP as immediately available supply.
Only 300 Million XRP Remains Outside The New Locks
The biggest figure to watch in Xaif Crypto’s report is the 300 million XRP that remains outside the new escrow locks.
That amount represents 30% of the original 1 billion XRP unlock. Responses under Xaif Crypto’s post focused on this remaining 300 million XRP. Bko3256 wrote, “ONLY – 300 million is enough to keep flooding the market with XRP, preventing price appreciation. Go figure.”
Jason similarly criticized the amount, writing, “Just casually dumping 300 million into retail, XRP is literally worthless to retail; if I didn’t have a massive bag, I’d dump this shit immediately.”
The comments show that some readers continue to focus on the potential market impact of the XRP that remains outside escrow.

What Is Different About This Cycle?
The difference comes from the relationship between the 1 billion XRP unlock and the 700 million XRP re-escrow. The headline release creates access to 1 billion XRP, but Ripple quickly returned 700 million XRP to escrow.
That leaves 300 million XRP outside the new locks, rather than the full 1 billion XRP.
The latest cycle therefore gives investors a clearer distinction between the gross monthly unlock and the amount Ripple retains outside escrow. Xaif Crypto’s report centers on that 700 million XRP re-lock and the resulting 300 million XRP balance outside the new escrow arrangements.
Future transactions will show how Ripple manages subsequent monthly releases, re-escrows, and the XRP that remains outside escrow.
