XRP Army Reacts As Veteran Trader Peter Brandt Throws Fresh Jibe At XRP

Crypto commentator Xaif (@Xaif_Crypto) recently shared a clip of veteran trader Peter Brandt demeaning XRP’s well-known utility. His argument is simple: being useful for transactions does not make an asset inherently valuable.

He uses the U.S. dollar as his example. “The U.S. dollar can be effectively used for transactional purposes as well,” Brandt says.

“We’re not speculating. We’re not all buying dollars because we believe it’s a transactional asset.” He argues that XRP holders need a stronger reason to assign value to the token than its utility for cheap transfers.

Supply is Another Open Question

Brandt also raises concerns about XRP’s supply. He acknowledges that questions remain about whether the total supply will expand over time. “Will we have expansion of the supply? There are things that we don’t know about XRP,” he says. For a market analyst who builds positions on knowable data, that uncertainty is a real obstacle.

He does not dismiss XRP entirely. He accepts that it works efficiently for transactions. He argues that transactional utility alone does not resolve the valuation question. He believes a reliable pricing framework requires more clarity than XRP currently offers.

He contrasts this with Bitcoin, which he sees as a store of value rather than a transactional coin. According to the analyst, that distinction makes Bitcoin easier to evaluate. XRP sits in a different category, and Brandt believes investors haven’t found the right tools to price it fairly.

The Community Pushes Back

The responses to Xaif’s post reflect strong disagreement with Brandt’s position. One commenter argued that Brandt’s dollar comparison misses a critical feature of XRP: its ability to bridge assets in cross-border and currency exchange transactions. The dollar cannot do this independently or cheaply.

Another said Brandt lacks a working understanding of XRP’s escrow structure and timed release schedule, and extended that criticism to most users on the platform. One commenter questioned why Brandt gained attention at all, suggesting his analysis has not kept pace with the market.

Where Brandt Stands On XRP

This video’s notable aspect is the contrast it creates with Brandt’s recent technical work. He set a long-term XRP price target of $5.40 based on chart structure. His skepticism about the asset’s fundamental value case runs alongside a bullish read of its price action.

Brandt has been clear that chart analysis is not a trade recommendation. He said the chart tells one story, while the fundamentals raise separate questions the market hasn’t fully answered.
