Crypto enthusiast Seer has highlighted past comments from Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen and former Ripple CTO David Schwartz while discussing the possibility of XRP eventually surpassing Bitcoin in market value.
The post points to differences in speed, functionality, and supported features as factors that could allow XRP to grow faster than Bitcoin.
Seer’s post specifically links Larsen’s comments about XRP’s development with Schwartz’s view on whether XRP could flip Bitcoin. The two videos attached to the post focus on the technical and functional differences between the two digital assets.

Remember what @JoelKatz said a few days ago when asked if he actually believes XRP can flip Bitcoin?
It would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin because of its speed and greater… pic.twitter.com/L5UHDVNd9j

Larsen Discusses the Development Behind XRP
In the first video, Larsen explains the thought that influenced the creation of XRP. He recalls a group of highly skilled individuals who sought to develop what he described as a better version of Bitcoin.
“A couple of years after that, there was a group of really, really smart people, way smarter than I, that I got together with, and basically they’re trying to create a better Bitcoin, if you will,” Larsen said.
He explained that the goal involved creating a non-government online currency while addressing some of the limitations associated with Bitcoin’s design.
Larsen specifically mentioned energy consumption, speed, and transaction capacity. He said the group wanted an asset that “didn’t burn a lot of electricity” while also being “sort of faster and had more flow through.”
He added that many entrepreneurs entered the industry after that period.
Schwartz Says XRP Could Surpass Bitcoin
The second video features Schwartz during an X Space, where he was asked whether he believed XRP could actually flip Bitcoin.
“Yeah, I do,” Schwartz responded.
However, he explained that outcome would not require Bitcoin to decline. Instead, he said XRP could reach that position by growing faster than Bitcoin.
“But I think it wouldn’t happen from Bitcoin shrinking. It would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin,” Schwartz said.
Schwartz also described a future in which digital assets rose across the market. He said major assets could continue growing substantially, while some smaller projects could disappear.

Higher Functionality At The Center Of The Thesis
Schwartz linked XRP Ledger’s potential growth to its speed, functionality, and ability to support features that Bitcoin cannot. He said XRP Ledger could capture more of the growth in digital assets because of these characteristics.
“And the XRP Ledger gets more of that growth because of its higher functionality and/or higher speed and/or people are interested in features that Bitcoin can’t support,” Schwartz said.
Seer’s post uses these comments to support the idea that XRP could eventually overtake Bitcoin through stronger growth rather than Bitcoin losing value. The thesis therefore depends on XRP expanding its adoption and market presence faster as digital asset markets continue to develop.
