Why Hasn’t XRP Made its Biggest Move Yet? Expert Shares Opinion

XRP has stayed in the top 10 by market cap every year since 2014. That includes years of regulatory battles, market crashes, and widespread skepticism.

Crypto analyst and educator Thomas Laresca (@crypto_vicexrp) recently addressed the question many XRP holders are asking right now: why hasn’t the price moved in a bigger way?

His answer is something most investors overlook. The infrastructure is being built right now, and the price has not yet caught up.

Regulatory Clarity Is Coming

Laresca points to the CLARITY Act as a critical development for the entire crypto market. Clear rules benefit every participant in the space, from retail investors to institutions. XRP already has a legal determination working in its favor. A U.S. court ruled it is not a security, giving the asset a foundation that most other cryptocurrencies still lack.

That distinction is important because institutions require legal certainty before committing capital at scale. XRP has it while many competitors do not.

What Grayscale Is Watching

Laresca highlights that Grayscale, one of the world’s largest crypto asset managers, has turned its attention to Ripple’s institutional infrastructure. That infrastructure includes partnerships with MasterCard, JP Morgan, and involvement in U.S. Treasuries tokenization. These are not speculative relationships. They represent Ripple positioning itself inside the existing financial system.

Ripple has also expanded well beyond payments. The company now operates across Ripple Payments, the RLUSD stablecoin, institutional custody services, and tokenization. Each product targets a different segment of the financial industry. That diversification strengthens the overall case for XRP as a utility asset.

A Strong Track Record

Laresca makes a notable observation about XRP’s staying power. It is the only altcoin to remain in the top 10 by market cap every year since 2014. That longevity held even through the SEC lawsuit, one of the most damaging regulatory challenges any crypto project has faced.

That history shows something real. XRP has continued to attract development, partnerships, and institutional interest regardless of external pressure.

What Comes Next?

The CLARITY Act, if passed, could accelerate adoption across the entire crypto market. For XRP specifically, regulatory clarity at a broader legislative level would reinforce what courts have already established. It could open doors for institutions that have been waiting on the sidelines.

Laresca’s position is that the accumulation of partnerships, acquisitions, and regulatory wins will eventually translate into significant XRP usage. “The price is one thing,” he said, “but they just keep on stacking acquisitions and partnerships.”
