The 47-year old American actress, who is best known for her roles in Charmed and Insatiable, recently took the internet by storm for her “defund the police” campaign. Lots of people including her fans supported her in the movement until the ironical event that happened on Sunday.
Alyssa Milano was believed to call the cops when she believed an armed gunman was on her Bell Canyon property on Sunday morning. As a response to her call, seven Ventura County Sheriffs’ vehicles, one K-9 unit, a police helicopter and one Los Angeles Fire Department team sat down the street on standby. Her actions created quite a stir among the audience considering the fact that she started the “defund the police” campaign. People were quick to call her a ‘hypocrite’ for calling the cops for her protection, going against her own campaign.
According to a neighbor, “We first noticed the helicopter circling overhead very low and knew something was going on, it’s usually such a quiet community. Then we saw all the police cars parked in front of Alyssa’s home. They had their guns at the ready and seemed very serious.”
Alyssa and her husband, Dave, had dialed 911 when they heard what they believed to be gunshots on their 1.39-acre property. A description too was given of a suspect to the officers who was ‘male, 40-years old, with long rifle’.
The cops continued their search for almost 3 hours. “It turned out it was a neighborhood teen with an air gun shooting at squirrels,” a resident said. The male teenager witnessed the emergency response and later realized he was the cause and turned himself in.
With regards to the recent events, a neighbor mentioned, “She uses her platform in hypocritical ways. Why not send your husband into the yard to find out what is actually going on before you call the police? I would guesstimate the response today from law enforcement cost tax payers thousands of dollars.”
After getting heavily slammed by the netizens, Alyssa Milano posted an explanation on her Instagram, about what exactly happened on Sunday morning, hoping it would help calm her audience a little.
